Hello. There's a special adhesive attached to the back of the touchscreen that allows it to be attached to the LCD screen. You will need to start prying it off the LCD screen very slowly, working from one corner and slowly peeling it back with the use of an x-acto knife, or other sharp-bladed knife. You must be very careful as it's very easy to permanently damage the LCD screen underneath. I suspect your touchscreen stopped working, hence the need to replace it. Good luck.
I imagine you've sorted it out by now, if not I know there use to be a place in UK (I'm in Australia) where you could order a ribbond with the full work out displayed on their site on how to go about it with photo etc. Actually there were more than one site. We ordered two ribonds and revived our psions, now only one, mine is still working but recently as per my post won't work on batteries although it shows there are ok.
You can get a repair kit here:http://www.pocketpctechs.com/main~unit~Palm_LifeDrive-421~area~repairs-Parts+Only~item~PPC-TOOLKIT01.htm
or just use the link to learn what tools you'll need.
In parts alone it can reach 200$, you'll have to google for it.
There's a chance that you only cracked the touch screen, and not the LCD, which changes the picture, and can cut the cost by more than half. I can attach below a picture of a cracked LCD, and another of a damaged touchscreen, so you can see the difference, just note that it's of an Ipaq, so might not be the same as yours.
