Dear hemi1223, It seems that the printer has problem with feeding mechanism. Here are possibilities: some materials block paper end so it does not reach paper cam sensor, paper feed sensor error, broken paper left inside printer and sheet feeder part broken. I suggest you to take your printer to the nearest service center.

Are these lines evenly spaced?. Do they always appear in the same spaces? When printing try and hold the paper so it comes out completely flat and see if the lines are there. Repost with this additional info and i will try and help you
First, check the the paper guide in the feed tray is up against the edge of the paper. If it is not snug then the paper will skew.
If it is OK then check with a torch both sides of the paper path - where it goes in and where it comes out.
I've found bits in the path before now that are not seen at first.
This printer may have a removeable panel at the back where you can check a bit more easily.
Hello there this may work for you, it has worked for many here I given this advice so gave it a try it could work for you.
Generally when this happens, something has fallen into the printer, or a piece of paper has been jammed in there.
First step, remove the ink cartridge, and turn the printer upside down and gently shake it, see if anything comes out.
If nothing goes, or you can't hear anything rattling around, get a piece of cardstock paper (60lb or heavier) and gently push this through the printer, to see if it will help push out what might be stuck in there. And gave the rode that the ink slides on a good clean and maybe a bit oil on cloth and wipe the rod with it. Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

The inner cover is the part where the CD print tray goes.
When you look at the front of the printer you should see CANON written above the output paper tray - just like in the picture next to you post. If you can't see the word - just fold up the flap.
1: Remove Cartridge 2: Unplug the AC Power Cord 3: Hold down the RESUME button 4: Release RESUME after plugging in the AC Power cord. 5: Press the RESUME once within 5 seconds and release the RESUME . 6: Press and HOLD RESUME for two seconds or more and release it. 7: Press and HOLD RESUME for two seconds or more and release it. 8: Unplug AC Power Cord to set data. Try this I found it doing a search on your machine, that foam was called a blotter, and it should work without it, good luck
