Question about Samsung 225BW Monitor

Samsung 225bw display with NO VIDEO and flashing power button

My father purchased a Samsung 225bw about 2- 2 1/2 years ago and has been having video problems for the past two weeks up until the display decided to quit showing video.
i am fairly positive the video card is busted, or there are some loose soldering thing-a-ma-gigs.
i was wondering if this is a problem that can be fixed by me, (i am not experienced, but willing to take the time to fix the problem, and also willing to open it up), or if it requires parts needed to be installed professionally.

Yup, same problem, im guessing power supply?

One day the monitor simply quit on me. I moved it to another pc to make sure it was not the video card. It didn't work on the other pc either. I then took a known working monitor and connected it to the pc that had the samsung. The other monitor works perfectly. When I connect the Samsung, all I get is a blinking light in the front.

Hello,

A flashing power light and no picture is a sure indication of a shorted power supply board. There are parts called capacitors that fail and this causes the power supply to continuously shut down and restart over and over, hence the power light flashing. If you can do a little soldering then you can repair the unit. Here is a link to a service guide showing how to dis-assemble the monitor and repair the power supply board.

I hope this helps, if so please ratre my solution.

My SyncMaster 225BW 22 inch does unpredictable displays when my PC is first started up, or awakes from sleep mode. (display is shifted to the right, or brightness is stuck on very low, etc.). Before, I...

Hello,

The brightness issues with this model are usually caused by a power supply that is starting to fail. There are parts called capacitors that start to fail, when this happens the power supply can not get to the correct voltage outputs that it needs to properly run the back light bulbs. This type of problem causes either the dim display that you have or a wavy display until the unit can stabilize the output voltage. It is repairable if you can do a little soldering. You will need to replace the 5 capacitors on the power supply board. Here is a link to a repair guide for that unit that shows what needs to be replaced.

This is an easy fix, about 15 minutes once you have the parts.

Please check the video cable and try it with another PC first.
If it is monitor:
If you are going to DIY and already try the monitor with another PC, and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). I have no blue light at the power button for my Synchmaster 225BW

The power switch is a momentary tactile switch. If you want to fix it, you will have to turn it off and look at the size of the switch to try to find the replacement for it. Not much you can do but open it up to find the cause of the problem.

Moniter is flickering, just bought a new video card, have had the moniter for over 2 years , any solution?

You can disassemble it check it for bad capacitors. Other than that you can check on ebay to see if anyone is selling the boards for that model. Sometimes you get lucky and find someone that has the same model with a broken screen.

Steve from Monitor Technology. You need to open the monitor and locate the inverter board.
Remove 3 screws,turn the board over and locate 2 caps,C110 and C111.Replace,820UF/35V
this will fix this problem.

NO VIDEO

I have a Samsung 50" plasma, that has been blacking out over the last 6 months. A 9/2005 set. Now its practically unwatchable as it happens 3 times in an hour. Its not heat related - I have a high volume 9" fan activated on TV power on. Turning the set offf/on usually makes it come back for a now short while. Considering to go put it in the back of my pickup and park it in front of Best Buy and discourage Samsung purchases. This is the 2nd Samsung TV I've purchased (the other a 32" tube) I gave to my folks a couple years ago and its gone bad as well. Samsung product may look good, but their video engineers are not.
