Weather king inside electric unit

Hello. The fan will run if the thermostat is set at cool and on. Or cool and auto. The fan will run if put to heat and on but NOT heat and auto. Then we removed the top halfs panel and there was a yellow wire that was hanging lose with no cap on it. There was one wire with a cap made for two wires but only one inside. my husband put the yellow wire in with the red or purple I think and saw smoke shoot out of a little black box on the left side of the panel if looking at it. This box had wires going to it. Now nothing works. It is a 24* night here in Phenix City Al. and we have 4 children. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP As soon as Possible. Thanks Brandi

Guys I mean HVAC people cap off fan motor speeds that are not being used they should be inside a electrical box so things like that don't happen. Sounds like you have a fan limit switch being the 25th you have it fixed by now. I'm sure. Sorry I didn't see this sooner.

He shorted the Transformer and lost all the 24v low voltage controls. This could have possibly been a loose wire in the T-stat or even a defective T-stat. It could have even been a reversing valve in some cases. Unit would only run auxillary heat bank in on position.

My weather king will not run on heat or cool. The fan will not run when switched to on. Have proper power to and through the units breaker. Put in new low voltage transformer.

Put the red wire from the secondary/24 side of transformer directly to the green. If blower works the problem is outside of machine. Check for small blade style/ car like fuse inside, check float switches.

I have RUUD furnace with build in coil for air conditioner and Weather King compressor outside of my condo. ALL EQUIPMENT IS 4 YEARS OLD I didn't have any problem with heat at winter, but in summe

When you remove the panel to the unit it turns off the power to it. The reinstalling the panel will reconnect power and allow the unit to reset. So the cheapest and easiest thing you can try is to replace the thermostat. Make sure you see how many wires you have connected to your existing tstat and buy near the same thing. It's possible that the tstat is acting up, not allowing the unit to cool when the temp demands. And turning off power is resetting the tstat as well as the unit. It will be hard to troubleshoot with the info provided so a new tstat will be worth a shot. Hope this helps!

Continuing running, Ice on outside unit

Every unit has to take rest to re boost. That's why thermostat for heat or cold fixed, If your unit is not cutting off @ setting temp check room sensor. If defective replace it.
If unit continuously running but no cool inside room means gas leak. Find leak and do gas charging.

Thermo set "heat" and "Auto

Check the fan relay. These relays are used to cut the fan on and off when the thermostat is set in the air conditioning or heating mode or when you move the thermostat to the "Fan On" position. The low voltage usually the green thermostat wire is wired to terminal #1. The low voltage common wire to terminal #3. One line voltage wire is attached to terminal #4. The high speed blower wire usually black is attached to terminal #2. When the thermostat calls for air conditioning or "Fan On" the 24 volt coil is energized, the terminals 4 and 2 close. This causes the fan to come on in high speed. When your home cools down and the thermostat cuts the air conditioner off, the low voltage coil terminals 1 & 3 are denergized, and the fan goes off. Sometimes these little relays stick which causes the fan to run all the time or will not make good contact, which causes the fan to not run in the "Fan On" or air conditioning mode.

Installing 1 1/2 ton Weatherking Heatpump and ADP WAK351807P2 air handler 1 /1/2 with 7.5KW back up heat kit. Can't seem to get the thermostat hooked correctly. I understand the Weather King product...

O energizes the reversing valve when the thermostat is set for COOL. B energizes the reversing valve when the thermostat is set for HEAT.
The O/B is usually a orange or black wire.
You can't hurt anything if you choose O or B incorrectly. Hook one of them up and run the unit. If set for COOL and the unit runs cool inside it is correct. If set for COOL and the unit runs warm inside it is not correct.
If the inside temp is opposite from your setting change the wire to the other terminal.
Remember to disconnect power from the air handler when changing thermostat wires.
The defrost control board on the outside unit should be marked correctly for O or B.
Your thermostat may have a slide switch rather than a separate terminal.

Thermostat setting

what i would do is see if the outside unit is working at all. when you first turn it on the air was warm due to the fact that the temperature inside was cooler than the set point. when it get within 2 degrees the unit shuts off the backup heat and your running on the hp alone. with both stages at the same temp you are running the hp and the electric heater and that can become very expensive. What I would do is make sure that the filters were clean and look at the outside unit and see if it has a red reset button on it, if it does reset it and see if the unit runs. If it doesn't then you need to call a quallified service person out to take care of the problem.

Central Airconditioner Heat Pump Weather King Brand outside unit continues to run even when thermostat is disconnected from terminal block base. Have to flip ckt bkr off to turn unit off. Recently it...

It sounds like you might have a short in the wiring that goes from the furnace (inside part) to the condenser (outside part). Follow these lines by hand and check to see the wire isn't damaged and shorting out.
