We have a Maltese and our vet recommended that puppies with longer coats should begin grooming once they have completed their second round of shots.

Most small dogs are very active and enjoy getting exercise; so as the owner you should get your dog some toys that will keep them running around and interested. Look for squeaky toys (if the noise wont bother you too much), chew toys, ropes and balls.

If you live in North America, you can apply to become an emancipated minor through court order. Though these cases are rare and expensive to litigate, it is possible. If I were you, I would Google 'emancipated minor' and list your country to see what lawyers/laws pop up. Any lawyer talk to will likely want a huge amount of $ up front.

Run the unit through a cycle with HOT water and a small box of baking soda plus detergent--no clothes. There are a number of cleaning products on the market that do the same thing (but more expensive). Redo this whenever you notice the smell returning.
