Re: Disc does not spin
There is 2 switch, first is front switch (part of the lid you open to put discs in - disc tray) was broken. There is also one on the rear of the lid - without these contacting the switches - it will not power up laser or spin discs. check this..

Is that the only disc you seem to be having the problem with?? If so try getting the disc repair kit and using that. I had the same problem with mine but it was only some of the discs. The ps2 slim can be very sensitive and even the slightest defect in a disc will cause it not to recognize there is even a disc there.
try going to the version press the triangle button then go to the console then enter then turn on the diagnostic then put the disc then go to the browser then wait for the cd to pop.(DO NOT TURN OFF THE PS2 OTHERWISE THIS MIGHT NOT WORK.)
It is not a problem leaving your Slim turned on, it is mainly leaving a disc that is unreadable in the Slim for long times that melts the laser. So it is best if you find that your getting disc read error not to allow the laser to try reading it for hours needlessly.
I think I got an email or phone call from you about repairing this slim for you. I have ordered a power switch, and have lasers on hand. The cost for Repair and return shipping if I change the laser, and the reset/power button card, will be $39.. Contact me at Repairtech@playstationclinic.com
If you can do it yourself, you can get the power/reset button and LAser replacements on Ebay. I suggest not to resolder the swtich on as a new one is not that expensive.
You will not be able to tell the disc is spinning once the door is open. you have to open the slim up and simulate the door being closed by pressing the button switches at the left rear corner of the disc drive, and just behind the reset switch at the same time. Chcek out my repair site www.playstationclinic.com if you need service.
Sorry about no one paying attention to your problem for so long.
I just got started about a month ago. I have been repairing video Game consoles for over a decade though.
Your problem is that your slim has a melted down laser and lens assembly. The unit is dirty. You will need a new disc drive and a thorough cleaning to get it back in service.
The problem about the power light is due to excessive dust buildup shorting out the components on the motherboard. The video output is also comprimised by dust and dirt.
The disc spinning is possibly comprimised by hair wrapped around the disc drive spindle.
If you want, I can thoroughly detail clean your PS2 slim and replace the disc drive for $38 plus shipping both ways.
