Question about Televison & Video

6 Answers

I have a samsung tv and 120hz doesn't work.

The info display says 720 x 480 @ 60hz. I have Dish network HD VIP722 receiver and no channels display 1080p or 120hz. I'm using the component video cables and running them through a Sony Str-DE695 and then to the TV. That receiver is 5 years old. Do I need to use the HDMI cables? The Sony receiver doesn't have HDMI inputs. Is Dish network not really 1080p? Does the 120hz only work with Blue Ray? Did I waste my money buying a 120hz TV? They advertise it on sports shows about how much better pic there is with fast moving action shows. Does the channel or station have something to do with brodcasting 120hz? There is a section in the user manual called (setting the auto motion plus 120hz). I gives you 4 5 options.
OFF switches auto motion plus off.
LOW sets auto motion to a minimum.
MEDIUM sets it to medium.
HIGH sets it to high.
DEMO displays a the difference between auto motion plus 120hz on and off by splitting the screen. I've tried all settings but none ever display 120hz on any channels. What setting should I use?

The 120 hz is the screen refresh rate and only some channels will be in hd and yes you wll need the hdmi input cable to get those channels that are in hd , even cable tv does not have all thier channels in hd , although they want you to believe that
even the s-video will give you a better picture than the component video , plus it only bieng one cord to plug in compaired to the three connections for video

Actually, you might call your current provider to inquire about having your current receiver updated. There is a good chance that getting a newer, updated box will solve your issue. Hope this proves to be useful.Have a wonderful evening!

To get HD you do need the HDMI cables, you are using just the RGB channel at the moment, plus none of you boxes have support HD, so no you can't watch TV in 1080i, 1080p or 720p. What you could do is subscibe to a decent cable company, ask them for a recordable digital reciever, and that reciever will have HD output, enabling the TV to be used to maximum capabilities

bestone890,

Go into the Main Menu. From there go to System Setup (6) -> HDTV Setup (8). Make TV Type 1080i and Aspect Ratio 16x9 and select Done. Your picture should now be showing a HD picture.

MY dish remote is installed with the dish receiver. My dish remote though is not changing the channels. I already changed the batteries and it turned out to not be that. So what do I do?

Tierra_bush,

It's possible the remote may just need to be readdressed to the receiver. I've listed the steps below:

Addressing remote
1.) Go to System Info screen.
2.) Hold down the SAT button until all mode lights light up.
3.) Enter a number between 1 and 15 using the numeric keypad on the remote.
4.) Press the pound (#) button.
5.) Once the SAT button blinks three times, press record.
6.) Try the remote and see if it is working.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

This is a problem that many have. If you are recording on TV1, and the receiver is in dual mode, then you are only able to watch what you record. But you can set your recording to TV1, and then put the receiver into single mode, and switch from the recording to live TV.

Hello this is Nick Franta with DISH Network.

What error message are you receiving on your screen? There should be a 3 digit number in the top right of the message. Has there been any bad weather in the area which may have affected the signal?

If you haven't been advised to already, I would suggest doing a hard reset of the receiver by unplugging it from the outlet for 10 seconds. When you plug it back in the receiver will reboot itself for you. If you are still getting errors hit the menu button then 6-system setup, 1-installation, 1-point dish, and then hit check switch and then test. All your satellites should show green. If not we would need to send a tech out to address the issue.

Hope this helps!

Hello! Daniel Busa with Dish Network. That would be a case of remote interference. You'll need a model 6.3 or 6.4 remote. You can set it to a uhf frequency instead of an ir that will correct the issue.

Was working, then after power back up TV1 is all distorder and fuzzy, TV2 has no signal.

dberan133,

Are you still having problems with your receiver? Are the green, amber, and blue lights lit on the receiver box? If the lights are lit, TV 1, depending on the TV, would be on channel 3/4 or an input setting. TV 2 would be on channel 60 or 73.

Program sony remote to operate dish vip722

The Sony RM-YD029 Remote control will work with the Dish Network VIP722 DVR HD Satellite Receiver, but the Dish Network VIP722's Primary remote address must be set to 1.

The procedure below will allow Sony RM-YD029 remote control to operate Dish VIP722.

Using the Dish Network Remote Control -
1. Press menu 2 times to get to system info page
2. In the system info page the primary remote address is in a white box (bubble) followed by a Green TV (1)symbol that says IR and indicates you the channel your remote control one is configured. The Sony RM-YD029 will work when this primary remote address number (in the white box) is set to 1.

If the Primary Remote Address of your VIP722 Remote control 1 is not set to channel 1, here is how to change it:

1. While displaying the system info page, press and hold the SAT button on your dish network remote until all other modes are flashing, about 3 seconds.
2. then press the '1' button on the numeric pad of your dish remote
3. then press the '#' button on the numeric pad of the dish remote
4. then press the 'record' button (red dot button - stores setting)
5. At this point you should see a number 1 in front of the primary remote address on the dish system info page

Ensure you enter the corresponding IR code into your Sony remote control per the instructions in the manual or Sony's web site. My 722 works with Sony IR code - 01775.

Need Dish DVR ViP722 remote code.

If you are looking to have the Dish remote operate your TV, just do a random search for your tv. First, hold down the tv button on the dish remote until all the rest of the light up. Next press the tvpower button on the dish remote. Next, press the channel up button (this is the up arrow button) until the set turns off. When it does turn off, press the # key at the bottom right of the remote. The tv button will light and flash twice. That's it. Your done. Hope this helps.
