Question about Photography

1 Answer

Olympus OM1 part fell out of the camera and I don't know where it goes.

I was not sure that the part you suggested was what fell out. This is a picture of the part that fell out of my OM1 camera. One side is flat and the other side has a curved shape to it. I hope this helps identify what it is.

Thanks for replying to my question.

That is the focusing screen to your Olympus. The tab you see goes to the right, as in the shiny side of the screen points down toward the mirror. The tab is the handle ( so to speak) for the screen. grab it only there as you can damage the rest very easily.

Hi, I am looking for a battery for my old, 1970's, Olmpus OM-1 manual camera. Camera still works fine but battery needs replacement. Thank you, Richard Sherman

The OM-1 uses a single 1.35 volt alkaline or mercury battery (Eveready or UCAR EXP625, Mallory PX625, or equivalent). You should be able to find this battery at an electronics or an office-supply store. One online source is

There should be several listed on ebay. They are available in black and chrome, A bit high for the item, but, $15.75 free shipping. I checked USCamera.com, he only has the focusing screens for the OM1.

My camera dropped and both lens fell out need to reasemble

It does not pay to fix this camera. This camera can be bought on Amazon for about $55. A brand new camera with specifications that blow away the Olympus can be bought for less than $100.

Sorry for not instructing you on repairing this camera, but you won't find any reputable person that would repair it.

How to use a manual zoom lens with Evolt 510

By manual zoom lens I am assuming you mean a film camera lens. If it is one of our OM 1 or 2 lenses they can be used on our Olympus digital SLR camera but you will need to purchase an MF-OM1 converter to be able to adapt those lenses to fit on our digital SLR camera. Then you will only be able to shoot using those lens in manual focus mode. Auto focus mode will not be available.

Lens Compatibility - Digital / Film

Hey savmoney,
Your current OM lenses are not directly compatible with the current four thirds mount used on Olympus DSLR's, but there is an OM four thirds adapter which should allow you to mount your older lenses to a new Olympus DSLR. You should have limited functionality while using the adapter, but according to the manufacturer aperture priority should work and full manual. I have included a link to a chart that shows which OM lenses are supported by this adapter. I hope this helps!
