Question about Packard Bell Computers & Internet

Unable to type without holding down shift key!

I have a packard bell easynote r4560. all of a sudden when i started my laptop up after it being in standby, some of the keys were not registering when i was typing and then some started coming out in a different order to how i had typed them! some of the keys worked at some times then at other times i would have to hit the key 20 times before it would work and some just refuse to work at all. i restarted my computer many times but it made no difference. the only way i can type properly (and how i am typing now!) is by having the caps lock on and holding down the shift key (alternatively, i could type without the caps lock but this would all be in capitals!) obviously this becomes difficult for using numbers, unless I put the num lock on but then the buttons to turn the num lock on and off often don't work. i thought maybe i had hit a random button without realising it but i went through all my functions and nothing changed. i tried the different profiles on my computer and it does not seem to be limited to one profile. i was trying to clean under my keypad but couldn't work out how to lift it up (although i am sure i have managed to do this before somehow!) please help, i am at my wits end! and my little finger is hurting from having to hold down the shift key the entire time...!

When you 'cleaned' the keypad, what exactly did you do?

It sounds like you need to replace the keyboard.

I havent cleaned the keyboard i was merely considering it then realised i coudllnt actually get under it> and now today i canT get any puncuations because my compter behaves like the shift key is pressed even when it isnt> for example: my tying is ok now because my caps lock is on and i am holding down shift but when i TA...ahh you's changing all the time! and sometimes my delete key works and sometimes it doesnt. however, i have noticed that when i log on to my computer i dont have the problem on the log in screen, only once i am logged into any profile...i might uninstalling and reinstalling the software for the keyboard...

A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

Maybe you set it up to work with the american keyboard layout. Try pressing shift and the number 2.

Non working keys on laptop

You should just need to replace the keyboard.

However finding a keyboard for a packard bell in the US can be hard. That brand hasnt been sold here in years.

If you are in europe it should be less of a problem though.
Made sure to get the exact model of the laptop to get the right keyboard.

Good luck!
