Question about Televison & Video

I have a 27" color flat screen tv by Samsung which I bought from Best Buy in Lakeland, FL 4 yrs ago never had a problem til now. I had a power outage in my home but the tv wasn't on nor was the Directv receiver box connected to it. I've checked all the cables,lines & connections everything is ok. I even had Directv make a service call and they found nothing wrong. But my 27" color tv is now only in B/W it is no longer in color. I get every channel from Directv in B/W only & the audio works too. Tell me what happen ?

    All the wires & cables were tested so no matter what coaxial cables I got behind the tv now they work fine but everyone I talk to tell me that its a color input inside the tv that has blown out..like a fuse or computer chip but I would think I would not receive a picture or sound if that was the cause. I have even had the Directv box "blink" off & reset itself back to the same settings. I've checked & re-checked the tv color settings but their "all" normal. I'm trying to get out of spending $125 service call just so my local tv repairman wants to charge me just to open up the tv before he actually fixes it. I even thought it could be a recall thing but Samsung Corp won't responde to me.

    Another thought here is I could kick myself for not getting an extended warranty or repair plan from Best Buy! But then again the 27 inch flat screen , model # TXR2735XXAA is only 4 yrs old & with being hooked up on a surge protector it is the "problem" and everything else works.

Try to use your directv box with a different A/V connection to the TV and see what happens?
EX. If you have a basic directv box using coaxial cable connection,try to use RCA(yellow,red/white) cable to a RCA input behind the tv.

I had the same problem. I bought my tv at Best Buy and my warranty included a new bulb for the lamp. They only last about 2 yrs or so depending on how much you watch the tv. You can also buy replacement bulbs online that don't cost too much. BUT, you will need to replace every couple of years. The things you listed are exactly what happens when the bulb goes out. There are several possibilities; a defective panel is a distinct possibility, or a bad main board, bad T/con board or a bad LVDS cable. You will need a technician to figure out the source of the problem. You can call 1-800-samsung to find the closest service center.

Sounds like it's the color wheel. The color wheel is responsible for colorization on your DLP. If that color wheel fails, you'll get funny and funky colors on the TV. You'll also hear a winding sound or a whirring sound. Not all cases you'll hear sounds from the thing, but those are the tell-tale signs that the color wheel is out, or going out.

I have a samsung hcn4727w tv and ive had it for five or 6 yrs and have never had a problem til now. about 3 months ago i had lotsa red on my screen. it went away after about 2 weeks. then about a month ago...


i am sorry to say but you will certainly need a service tech to research this problem.it could be a defective bias or output transistor, a board problem at the end of your lamp. but i have went to the screen and bias controls and fixed the problem.all tv's are different so i cannot tell you exactly where yours are located seeing that some are in the back and some are in the front, but when you find it, it will be 6 small black turn knobs and you must turn them very slowly to your left until the color evens out. this would mean that you have a lamp problem and it will definitely need servicing.

In rush Limiting Resistor location R8010 its comen for this model to open the resistor
its on the power supply module value is 6.8ohms at 7 watt standup cement Style resistor.

I think this will do it.

Samsung HCN2446W -- Yellow/Greenish tint all over screen


That model should be HCN4226W, right? Because the other don't come-up. Sounds like the mirror may have moved. It's mounted on the upper part of the back of the T.V. Should be flat against the back. Check that. Then see if all 3 tubes are lighting up. Also possable the fluid leaked out.....but not likely. These sets are fairly robust. Do you remember jarring it in the drive home?? Did you have it laying down when you moved it?
