Our NN-8500/NN-8501V Micro/Convection is no longer repairable

We are looking for a new (or used) replacement model to fill the 'hole' in our 1995 Luxor motorhome. Right now we are in the Rio Grande Valley, S Texas.

We are Peggi and John McDonald - Our phone number is 850 384 4835.

I sent this info back by return email last week after your first reply. We had the above model of Micro Convection in our LUXOR motorhome and it is no longer repairable. plus Panasonic do not make them anymore.

Because it was a built-in model that fit into a cavity above the stove we need a new or replacement model. We called Winnebago and the replacement # they gave is is ALSO no longer manufactured. The commercial Microwaves (even without a convection) from department and hardware stores do not have the same location of the feet and they will not fit into the welded bracket in our 'hole' above our stove. Because the 'feet' do not sit in the 'holes' in our welded bracet the unit ends up sitting too high and overheats due to lack of clearance.

We would be happy with a good used or a new model that will fit. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks in advance P&J

The previous comment does not work. The Dometic that is for sale on E-Bay doesn't fit and we no longer have the previous Micro-Convection. It 'buried it' at the repair shop and it is now in Micro/Convetion heaven. So we are still searching for a replacement model.

One RV Dealer Repair Shop thinks it can rebuild a different oven into the space but we can not move the coach till much later over the winter. We would really like to find a replacement and the RV Dealer Repair Shop is looking for a used one but in the meantime I am still cooking with my electric frying pan which works but it is not a M/C. Thanks in advance P&J

Solution is not satisfactory at this time. Ginko asked for dimentions.

    Power Micro - 2.8 Amps 1500 W
    Convection 2.5 Amps 1500 W

    Output Micro 850 W
    Conv 1400 W

    Outside dimensions 2"(H) 21 7/8"(W) 16 3/4"(D)

It had a trim kit which we still have and it has to be in black or stainless in colour. Thanks in advance. P&J

These models still will not fit the space we have to put it. Without major reconstruction we need an RV style built-in model similar to what we had. We may have to go to reconstruction. Thanks in advance P&J

My Panasonic Microwave Dimension 4 Convection is showing FFFF in the time display when I try to use it. What does this mean?

FFFF is not mentioned in the user manual, but there may be some helpful information or contact information in it.

PANASONIC Dimension4 NN C988W Operating Manual And Cook Book

This is not certain, but it may be a part that is expensive to replace according to this other web site for a similar model Panasonic oven. That person said their microwave was still working.

Good day, I have a Panasonic Dimension III Microwave/Convection Oven 1983
Model NE-9910A.

I went to use it today and when I entered to nuk my coffee a FFFF display appeared where the clock normally appears. I went and found my operating instruction booklet and it indicated to "stop/reset" which I did. Next it indicates to contact a Panasonic Servicecenter. Can you help me out? ps. It still works great!!!!!

Answered in 1 minute

FFFF means that your display control board has an internal short. The only way to fix the problem is to replace the display control board which is no longer available. If you really wanted to fix the microwave you'd need to remove the display board and mail it to a place like to have the part refurbished. The cost to have the part repaired is usually about $200-250 or so.

Micro wave made a popping noise now does not heat up food as hot

The popping noise was probably the capacitor or high voltage diode blowing.

Test the high voltage capacitor, the rectifier diode.or the magnetron.

The diode and capacitors can br tested. The capacitor must be allowed discharge before testing, or you risk to get electrocuted, even if power is off. Capacitors can get discharged by shorting their two contacts.
Replace the magnetron if the checks and all of the high voltage component tests are good, but the unit still does not heat.

All locations, and description of this parts can be located using the diagram here: Counter top.

Parts must be tested to find out what is wrong.

Remember that microwaves are potentially dangerous devices if not repaired properly, the job must be done by a competent person.
A microwave energy leakage test must always be performed when the oven is serviced for any reason.

Regarding parts, contact the seller here to purchase parts.

Operates for 3 seconds on microwave then stops

If the digital programmer circuit / controller does not get a feedback signal from the inverter for a period of 3 seconds, the controller will stop the cook cycle.

It could possibly be as simple as a loose connection in that area. The repair shop your friend used may not have been Panasonic-authorized.

Due to the lethal voltages used and produced, I do not recommend that an inexperienced person work on these.

I would recommend that you contact your nearest Panasonic-authorized servicer.
