Slow wireless speed!!

I have a d-link DIR-615 Wireless N Router and i am experiencing slow internet speeds with my PC. I have Comcast High - Speed internet; 6mbps. (consider that my wired connection with ethernet cable works absolutely fine)
I looked up every article, tips, advices on how to "fix" this problem but nothing seems to works. Interference is not an issue here. I have also checked TCP tweaks. And the thing that annoys me is that my laptop has no problems at all. I ran some internet speed tests on my laptop and it's consistently at 6mbps. However, my PC has it's ups and downs. I do not understand what is the problem. I could really use some help.
Thanks.

Have D-Link DIV-615 B2 Version. Used to work like a charm, 9 months old and things got slower and slower. to the point that it is impossible to watch anything online. Speeds directly thru modem ..WOW!! So it is the router...Comcast 8,000 speed, Think Pad Intel Duo, with Windows XP..
Now I am tied 2 ft from my modem with a laptop. Tech Support at D-Link Zero...no response to my emails.
What do I need to do to get things running with real speed again. Will not let down my firewalls. there must be another way????
    thanks

    Hello stefanostran,

Connect the desktop directly to the modem and test the cable speed. Please post the results.

I had a similar problem with a dlink dir 615, good connectivity but slow internet. I lowered the MTU (in internet setup) number to 1300 (from 1492) and fixed the problem. You'll have to experiment as to what is your best number. I hope this works for you.

Usually uploading speed will be slow in any type of connection. It is default.Uploading speed will be 1/4 fourth of downloading speed. So uploading speed won't increase more than that.If you fee your internet uploading speed is very slow,it is because of internet traffic.Try using internet in non traffic time. Also try to avoid many downloads at same. You can use latest browser for browsing. To check internet speed visit the site Scanmyspeed.com

Slow internet speed when connected to router

So, If you have internet connection speed problem with your wireless try with the following steps,
1.)Reset the wireless router by using the power switch on it or by unplugging it and plugging it back in.
2.)Place the wireless router in an ideal location. The higher it is, the better, but don't put it near metal objects.
3.)Get as close as possible to the router with whatever device you're trying to connect.
4.)Keep the router and your connecting device away from other electronics. You should especially keep away from phones, fax machines and microwaves. etc.,
5.)Adjust the Wifi antenna if it has one.
6.)Change the router's channel, especially if other wireless routers are nearby.Following these steps would give you stable internet connection and also increased speed in connection. You can check your internet speed from www.ScanMySpeed.Com before and after following these steps.

Dynex DX-E102 PCI co/100Mb Network Adaptor provides really slow connection to my Dell Dimension 8200 PC. How can I speed it up?

speed is a function of line of sight distance so measure distance from wireless router for pc and then open that utililty on pc and see what relative speed is happening

if the signal is less than 3 bars, that is like a wireless tach

need at least 3 to 5 bars to get speed

also, your pc has a network adapter card no doubt might be that it's running a full tilt and needs an upgrade

let me know what you find

I've got the DIR-615 router. I've got it set up on with my PC, the PC gets internet through the modem, and the router handles the wireless access for the rest of the house. We noticed the internet speed...

I would make sure that you wireless security set up on the device. If you do not have wireless security setup on the device your neighbors may be using your intenet connection to download whatever they like. If you have wireless security setup and you are still having problems i would upgrade the firmware to the box. If that doesnt work i would ask D-Link they have great support. They can also help you with any of the above mentioned solutions.
Hope this helps please leave me feedback if it does :)

Can I get my d 615 to work with Rogers high speed USB stick?

Hello,

The Rogers high speed USB stick will only work when plugged into a computer.

The stick does not work the same as a regular wireless card and so you can not use it to connect to your router.

You will need to have a seperate wireless network card to connect to your router, then your computer will be able to connect to both the network and the internet.

Thank you,

Pat
