Question about Acer Aspire 5050-3242 Notebook
When i turn on my computer is lodes have way and stops at a black screen it is supposed to take me to the log is page but it just stops there i tried to fix it more then 20 time but it wont work so can any one help me
Ok i have seen this situation several times and i think every single time it was caused by a bad windows update that occurred in the background with automatic update feature enabled. And of course the new update did not take effect until you rebooted the machine..
If this is what happened then safe mode will be of no use
And the best way to fix it if you want to keep all of your existing files would be to boot from your windows xp cd and select the "repair" option to do a repair installation of windows. That will keep all of your files and settings and when it is complete you will have your desktop just as before.
But if you have installed any service packs for windows after your last windows install and the service pack is not integrated into your xp disk then the "repair" option will not be available to you with that cd. since your windows cd will see your version of windows as being newer than itself..
The way around this would be to borrow someone’s xp disk that has service pack built into it or go to another pc and go to microsoft.com and type this in the search box "sp2 network install" or sp3 depending on which service pack you have installed and that will take you to a download page where you can download the entire service pack for offline installation and after the download completes you will need to create a new xp slipstream cd using your existing xp disk files and the service pack but that is a whole nother issue and to detailed to type in this post
if you can not find anyone with an xp cd that has your service pack in it then let me know and ill tell you how to create a slipstream cd for your pc using a free program called "nLite"
with nLite you can create a custom xp install cd just for your computer since it not only integrates the service pack but you can also integrate all of your drivers into it and customize windows settings and so on .and its a free program
Once you have an xp cd that matches your version of windows the "repair windows installation" option will be available
Unless you don’t care about your files then you can go ahead and just format it with any xp cd .but I would think that you probably do not want to just format it which is probably why you are asking for help…
either way windows will need to be reinstalled at some point..
hope this info helps

You don't get the "operating system is corrupt" message when the boot loader hangs, the pc does nothing, but saying that mocmarquez is right! boot into safe mode and perform a "system restore" if that does not work, its a system recovery

You need to launch the Last know good configuration to get this fixed.
Follow the steps below,
Step 1: Shut down your PC completely.
Step 2: Turn on the Power button.
Step 3: As soon as you turn it on start hitting the F8 key on your keyboard until you get to a black screen called "Windows Advanced option". (If you don't get to that that screen but you end up reaching the blue screen than that means you have delayed in hitting the F8 key. start again from step 1.)
Step 4: As soon as you reach "Windows Advanced option" use your down arrow keys to choose an option called "Last know good configuration".
Step 5: Select that and HIT ENTER.
Step 6: you PC will boot to the windows.
