Are any error messages displayed? From what's been told so far I would guess that the Operating System has been corrupted. You might want to try booting in safe made with the F8 Key and trying to save any documents that you can.

After that the easiest solution would be to reformat the computer with your OS disk.

Ok i have seen this situation several times and i think every single time it was caused by a bad windows update that occurred in the background with automatic update feature enabled. And of course the new update did not take effect until you rebooted the machine..
If this is what happened then safe mode will be of no use

And the best way to fix it if you want to keep all of your existing files would be to boot from your windows xp cd and select the "repair" option to do a repair installation of windows. That will keep all of your files and settings and when it is complete you will have your desktop just as before.
But if you have installed any service packs for windows after your last windows install and the service pack is not integrated into your xp disk then the "repair" option will not be available to you with that cd. since your windows cd will see your version of windows as being newer than itself..
The way around this would be to borrow someone’s xp disk that has service pack built into it or go to another pc and go to microsoft.com and type this in the search box "sp2 network install" or sp3 depending on which service pack you have installed and that will take you to a download page where you can download the entire service pack for offline installation and after the download completes you will need to create a new xp slipstream cd using your existing xp disk files and the service pack but that is a whole nother issue and to detailed to type in this post
if you can not find anyone with an xp cd that has your service pack in it then let me know and ill tell you how to create a slipstream cd for your pc using a free program called "nLite"
with nLite you can create a custom xp install cd just for your computer since it not only integrates the service pack but you can also integrate all of your drivers into it and customize windows settings and so on .and its a free program

Once you have an xp cd that matches your version of windows the "repair windows installation" option will be available

Unless you don’t care about your files then you can go ahead and just format it with any xp cd .but I would think that you probably do not want to just format it which is probably why you are asking for help…
..
either way windows will need to be reinstalled at some point..

hope this info helps

You don't get the "operating system is corrupt" message when the boot loader hangs, the pc does nothing, but saying that mocmarquez is right! boot into safe mode and perform a "system restore" if that does not work, its a system recovery

Cant log in ; computewr will not run

Shut your computer down and turn it back on (not restart, turn it off) while its coming on, rapidly hit the F8 button until the black screen with the white font appears. Stop hitting F8, and select Safe Mode. The computer will start up with the minimal functions to operate. Now, run your antivirus program, what ever it may be. When it's done, shut the computer off and turn it back on, unless the computer tells you to restart. Then try to log in again.

My laptop keeps loding windows. and won't stop loading. i have turned off and on and still not responding. is there a equivilant to cntl ,alt, delete?

You need to launch the Last know good configuration to get this fixed.

Follow the steps below,

Step 1: Shut down your PC completely.
Step 2: Turn on the Power button.
Step 3: As soon as you turn it on start hitting the F8 key on your keyboard until you get to a black screen called "Windows Advanced option". (If you don't get to that that screen but you end up reaching the blue screen than that means you have delayed in hitting the F8 key. start again from step 1.)
Step 4: As soon as you reach "Windows Advanced option" use your down arrow keys to choose an option called "Last know good configuration".
Step 5: Select that and HIT ENTER.
Step 6: you PC will boot to the windows.

I have a black ds lite and i accently dropped it in my pool and it turns on and it dosent show the picture and it used to show lines.

When any electronic is dropped, you must take the battery out right away. Also, you should put the device and the battery in a jar of rice because the rice absorbs any moisture quickly. Your DS might be water-logged. Meaning, the water has corroded the wires inside and made it difficult or impossible for electricity to flow. However, because it DOES turn on, the problem could be with the screen only. DS replacement screens are available on ebay, but require self-installation. Buying a screen will not necessarily fix your DS.

If your DS is still under warranty or if you have home owner's insurance, I would call Nintendo and tell them that your DS is defective and stopped working and that you would like to send it in and get it replaced. Home owner's insurance may or may not cover your DS, it depends on your coverage and deductable. Hope this helps.

Window starts up but it dosent let me log in please help

Can you specify at what point it doesn't let you log in? Does it get to the log in screen? Make sure you have your Caps Lock button turned off, and your Num Lock key turned on, then try to log in again. Will need a little more clarification if the problem still exists after trying this. Hope this helps!!
