Question about Refrigerators
I have a GE Profile refrigerator that has been unplugged for about two weeks while moving. My question is, can bacteria form in the water line and dispenser? If so, what is the best method to clean it? I thought about getting a bucket of water with some bleach added but not sure how smart of an idea that is.
I will be hooking it back up tomorrow 11/22. Not sure if my new filter will handle what I am looking to do. Just don't want to get e-coli or some other bacteria.
The ice dispenser spill shelf should be wiped dry immediately to prevent spotting if excessive spills occur. Water left on the shelf may leave deposits. Placing a paper towel under the grill will help absorb the water that would normally stand on the shelf.
To remove deposits, soak the area with one of the following solutions:
Soak until the deposit disappears or becomes loose enough to wipe away. Usually 30 minutes of soaking time is adequate.

Check the connector at the bottom of the freezer door first , you should also be able to hear the micro switch click when you press the paddle

Had the same problem. The water line from the valve to the ice maker was cracked due to heat from the compressor.

If the yuck is in the dispenser area pop off the bezel around the buttons very carefully and remove 4 small screws and clean with an old tooth brush. Install in reverse manner
