After trying several drivers installing and then uninstalling several times including using system restore the sound driver would still not work.. But after another reformat (the 2nd in 24 hours) and then installing the very same driver it worked perfect !!.. (Driver for this model on the Toshiba main website/support and listed under L100-179 which covered the model (L100-109) I was after)

Couldn't find the model on Toshiba's website. But here's a link below to drivers for your listed model on another site. Assuming Windows XP, you didn't state.

Cannot get internet from router to

If I understand correctly you want to use the router as a gateway for an sat. receiver.
This Netgear router can be connected to devices that has TCP/IP connections (RJ45) ports or wireless IEEE 803.11 b/g, and that can get the IP address statically or from DHCP (router). Toshiba can do that and therefore it is working fine. If sat.receiver is not device that can behave as a PC (processor etc.) it can not get IP address and router can not "see" that device, therefore router can not let "something invisible" to connect to the internet.

External Antenna

First, try changing the channel your access point (AP) is using. Maybe there is some interference with another AP or with an electronic appliance such as a wireless phone. Try all available channel. While changing your channel number, make sure that the wi-fi power of your access point is set to the maximum available (100%).

Second, make sure that there is as less metal as possible around the AP, for example if the AP is sitting in a metal book case or on a metal shelf.

Third, some appartment buildings, expecially old ones, have very thick walls made of concrete or brick. This is a nightmare for wi-fi. Try bringing the AP to a more central point in your appartment, if possible (I know this may be complicated).

Drivers problem

Have you tried going using windows update ?

it may be able to find drivers you need.

I found the sound driver at
http://driverscollection.com/?H=Satellite%20L100%20%28PSLA0%29&By=Toshiba

In order to get the correct vga drivers you need to find out which graphics card it has. Intel/Nvidia/Ati

Laptop should have a sticker on top that says which it has

I checked out the specs on laptop and
It may be an intel gma 950

The vga driver can then be downloaded at any of the websites downloads/drivers section(s)

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/default.aspx
http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html

Try changing the channel on the router. There may be too much interference on the current channel.
