Can not seem to find support or updates for Nortek Roadmaster 354

I have recently purchased a Nortek Roadmaster 354. I think it is a 2006 model. Some of the maps are out of date so I've been looking to the Nortek website (www.nortekonline.com) for support or advice on this. The only items in the downloads section are for the manuals which I have, one of which states that i will need to downloads certain files from the website to update the device - updates that do not exist it appears. I have contacted customer services only to get an automated message back to say that the person dealing with this had gone out of the office and wouldn't be back until 01/01/2010. The rest of the message was in Italian. I don't know what to do, there is no contact number that I could find on the website. I've googled for any information on updates, the possibility of getting updates but seem to be drawing blanks. Can you help? I don't know what else to do or where else to try! Thank you!

SOURCE: 2009 map update not loading

Fixed. Called Garmin. It seems that version 4.90 FW on the Nuvi 350 (which came shipped on my 350) has a bug where it cannot communicate with the Garmin software either to update maps or update FW. Tech from Garmin e-mailed me a patch that I copied into the Garmin folder on the Nuvi itself, via USB and Windows Explorer. I then rebooted it; the patch installed itself which then allowed the unit to communicate with the map upgrade software and all is well. 2009 map update is now installed and the Nuvi is working fine again. Haven't tried upgrading to newer FW yet; will probably leave well enough alone.

SOURCE: Upload latest western europe map v7.20 to TOMTOM 700 not possible

I have managed to solve the problem of loading a new map on my Go700 using a Mac. I discovered that Tomtom is incompatible with the Leopad operaying system, despite the protestations of the idiots at Tomtom ,so I reverted to an older Mac using Tiger.
Taking the instructions given to crinold, I tried to erase the disc on the 700 using home 1.5 - and it didn't work. So I went to disc utilities, highlighted and erased the Tomtom disc, and opened home 2,5. After being refused entry several times, like being told to load an already loaded device, I persevered, and managed, slowly, to add the map I had bought for 78 euros. T]One point oif interes is that when I bought the map, they site stated it would cost 63 pounds sterling, but switched it to euros when the invoice arrived. at a rate very favourable to Tomtom - funny, that.
This is sharp practice, probably illegal in many countries,, but, to be honest, dealing with the mysterious Tomtom company is so frustrating, that I don't have the time or inclination to fight them for the money they cheated from me.
How they survive with such an awful product and extremely bad after sales service is hard to understand - perhaps they won't ... we live in hope.

I have a Lincoln 2007 MKX...The navigation is not following properly. Is there a way to master reset or perform a hard boot? The mapping cd is original. I shouldn't have to get an updated map. System...

Disconnecting the battery or removing the appropriate fuse for one minute will reset the navigation system. Then allow the vehicle to sit running under an unobstructed sky for about 15 minutes to allow the nav system to find its location. This does not remove addresses you have programmed into the system.

If you are getting position errors on recently built roads, you need the map update. Established roads that haven't changed since July 2006 should have no position errors with your cd.

I have recently purchased a Garmin GPS and have found that the streets around my home are not showing on it. How up to date is the information provided?

well is this a new unit?

data is usually 12 months behind, due to time to collect and render for the various brands. If you think your GPS data is out of date more than 12 months return it to the seller and demand an update.

Nip into another seller and check what releases they have on their demo units, compare with yours and then make your claim against the seller you purchased from

Free map updates for Garmin c330

Garmin has released new maps. Most of their units are entitled to a free update if the unit was purchased recently Just a heads up to anyone who recently purchased a C330. According to Garmin's tech support, the map udate 2008 is not free to those of us that recently purchased a C330. Only to those who purchased a C340 and up. Their excuse is that it is a "low end" unit, and also that the memory cannot hold the full US maps on the DVD. Gee, I can purchase the update for $69.99 and load a subset of the maps if I want, according to the person in tech support, but I cannot receive it as a free update. So, apparently buyer beware if you purchase Garmin's "low end" units. You will apparently not be able to receive a free update of maps, even if the unit you buy is already out of date.

I have recently purchased the Navman S80 deluxe. Please can you advise if this model supports traffic information and if I need to buy a traffic cradle? How do I subscribe in order to receive updates...

Hi.
I have the same model.
It does support traffic information, but only using the traffic cradle.
The S80 is sold with the cradle as part of the deal.
If you register your Navman online you will advised where to get the updates.

Nortech Navigator e-gps010 map updates

I emailed ferro-works.com and asked about if they could email a update or a link and they replied the latest map update for the e-gps10 is 2006, Mine says is was manufactured 10/2006 so it looks like they made it upgradable and havn't bothered to upgrade it yet if they plan to at all. A posting on the web said you could buy a Destinator upgrade, I looked and I couldn't find one for Nortech and the others were $99. I paid $99 for the navigator on discount so I wouldn't pay another $99 for a upgrade myself.
