Use the above link to trouble shoot the problem.

Error: "Carrier Stall" ID:470

To check the cartridge carrier:

1. Unplug the printer.
2. Move the cartridges to the left by hand and then take them out.
3. Try to print without the cartridges in the carrier. Do you still receive a Carrier Stall error message?
4. If not, put the cartridges back into the carrier and snap them in at the back. The message should no longer appear.

If the power light on the printer is not blinking, the error message may be caused by a communication error. Do the following:

1. Remove any other devices attached to the USB/LPT port.
2. Uninstall the Lexmark printer.
3. Connect the printer directly to the PC and ensure that power is being supplied to the printer.
4. Reinstall the printer.

Lexmark x83 carrier stall

Hello there.

I have checked lexmark's website on troubleshooting this problem for you.

As per the link here we need to try the following steps to resolve the problem.

Carrier stall" Error and the Carrier Slams in the Printer ID:ENUS12078 null.gif null.gif null.gif
If the printer carrier is slamming into the side of the printer, please try the following:
  1. Disconnect the power supply from the back of the printer.
  2. Open the front cover of the printer where the cartridges are located.
  3. Look for two black bands that span from left to right (they should have one serrated side and one smooth side). Just above the black bands there is a transparent strip; this strip is called the Encoder strip.
  4. Flick this strip lightly with your finger to make sure that it is running smoothly from left to right. You may need to do this two or three times. CAUTION: Do not pull the strip!
  5. Close the front cover of the printer and reconnect the power supply.
  6. If the problem persists, you may need to contact Lexmark Technical Support.
Let us know how this goes and we can assist you futher, if the printer is damaged and is under a year old, lexmark may be able to repair or replace it for you.

Hope this helps.

Fax and copy problem

Does the All-In-One make a loud noise and then stalls.
If it does then it should also give a message as Scanner Failure.
Take out both the cartidges from the All-In-One and unplug the power cable directly from the All-In-One and move the carriage (carriage is the on which hold the cartridge) Too and Fro unitill you feel it is moving freely, Then insert the ink cartridges and close the access door, And plug the cable directly to wall outlet without surg protector, and before connecting the power cable to the printer press and hold the # and No 6 keys, without releasing the keys insert the power cord and after you see a window which says semiful reset you can release the keys.
And in case the screen goes blank then release the keys and turn the power On, on the All-In-One.

Good Luck.

Light 1 always on, beeps when any key is pressed. No typing

I was just playing with a WW 1500 and the only way i got anything close to what you described was to stop the carrier on tab and return it so it slammed at the l. margin. Check and see if the carrier moves fairly freely from side to side with power off. If so check the circut board over and under for debris.

Hope this helps

Lexmark P4350 print catridge does not move.

Sounds like the photo sensor for the "transducer" for the cartridge assy is not working (or there is a power supply related problem....)

Look for loose connections of any cable from the small blocks on either side thin strip that goes through (behind) the the cartridge assy.It has thousands of verticle lines on it.....

They could also be dirty (Incorrect speed sensing).
(Try to clean if printer is dirty...Be careful not to blow i the cartridge assy area as the ink may fly everywhere)

DO not touch the thin strip with verticle lines .Very Delicate...
