Hi sorry for the lack of information. It has Vista Home O/S, the router is a Netgear Wireless G, which does not show in the available networks. In fact no available networks show when searched. The Toshiba is WiFi enabled. Thanks for the previous information, which I have not tried yet, just in case there is a different way with the further information I have given. Thank you for your assistance.

Do you see the router in the available networks?
if so, router is perhaps MAC adress protected (that is not appearing as it is for wep under
available netwoks.
access your router config, usualy typing http://192.168.1.1 on a working computer connected
search for reference to mac access
and ad your toshiba's wifi mac to the list of allowed hardware

The wireless Network has a key on it to prevent unauthorized people from stealing your connection. You'll have to access the router and look for the WEP or WPA security key and use that in your wireless devices.

Can't get wireless connection to work

Is the wireless card driver installed and working?
Can the wireless card detect your Netgear Router and does it have a strong signal strength?
The Wireless card needs to be configured with the Netgear Router's SSID and encryption settings before it will communicate with the Netgear Router.
Let me know if you have further problems together with error messages.

Compliancy : Wi-Fi®
Network Support : 802.11b/g
Wireless Technology : Wireless LAN

That is the internal wireless so no you dont you need any thing to set up a wireless connection
You need to set up your wireless network

Or you should have got an ethernet cable with the router usually small yellow, blue or blue. plug this cable into one of the ports on the back of your router then the other end of cable to the ethernet port on side (i think) of laptop anc conect phone line from main box to router. You dont need no software just switch on router wait a couple of minutes till all lights on router turn green and click on your internet explorer done!

Netgear wireless router WGT 624v4 not accessing some websites

if the router was the problem, then no site would be accessible from either of the problem pc's.

unless the webkinz site is being blocked because it contains active scripts. check the configuration page for the router (usually 192.168.1.1) and switch off any active firewall / security applications running on the router.

Internet connection to home PC after adding netgear wireless to laptop

Hi,
You have'nt specified whether your pc is connected to netgear or not. If yes then firstly it should be hard wired into the router to check connectivity.
Now on your PC Click start>run>type in cmd>in the command prompt screen that opens up type in ipconfig and press enter
it will display the ip address
if ip address is 192.168.0.2
and default gateway is 192.168.0.1 and still you're not able to open webpages run this command in the same command prompt screen netsh winsock reset catalog.......
You''ll be able to access webpages...
If ip address comes out to be something else get the drivers of nic card reinstalled on your PC.

Netgear router

You need to find the router password (is not the one you use to access wireless), after you rememeber the password and username you need to open your browser and type the url to access the router, usually inlcuded in the instructions manual.

After doing that, log into the router menu and check your wireless password and settings.

If this is not working, please jard reset your pasword.

Hope to be usefull.,
