Question about Xerox Printers & Copiers

Copier beeps after scanning

When something is scanned (network scanning) into our Xerox 250, it scans the document, the "job in memory" light comes on, then the "online" light comes on. After 30 or so seconds, the printer will start beeping. 3 beeps, skip a beat, 3 beeps.
The scanned file never makes it to the destination.
We have checked permissions, accounts and passwords, configs.
Nothing has changed. Any idea what is causing this??

The IP of the printer, and the sever it is trying to connect to have not changed (static address).
The scans were working, then for some reason stopped. No new software has been added to the server, and the permissions on the folder have not been changed.

UPDATE**** I stumbled across a screen that sayed the error I was getting was "016-781".

The IP address has not changed on the printer, or the server it is scanning to. (Static IP) The permissions on the share/folder it is scanning to have not been modified. (Keep in mind that at one point, this scanner was working.)

We are not on Vista, to the solution does not apply.

UPDATE** I stumbled across the error code "016-781" when trying to find a solution to this problem.

Error 016-781. I think it has something to do with your outgoing mail servers that requires authentication, because that was the only thing that changed on our server and the xerox stopped working....I do not know how to fix it yet...

Has the IP address changed in the network.. Is your machine set to Static IP?

Is there a firewall blocking the scan. are the ports which the scanner uses unblocked?

Is this scvanning direct;y to the PC

Is this connected to a Vista computer? There might be a few extra things that need to be turned off permanently in the computers admin settings.

Job failed because scan name is invalid

Hi Anonymous / Kenneth,
I assume you must have this problem sorted by now. ( 2012.)
Perhaps there's a firmware up grade you could look into?
Perhaps you must have to check this problem with your Xerox Concessionaire.
Good luck.

Error code 016 781

The 016-783 error message indicates that “Cause – Could not find the specified server path during file”.
The folder that the Xerox scanner job template uses to deposit the scans in had previously been deleted, so I had recreated the shared network folder. What I had neglected to do though was to recreate the sub-folders that the Xerox Job Templates use for the scans.
After recreating the subfolders that the file repository setup referenced in the job template I had no more error codes with that scanning job template.

Xerox 4150 not scanning to network

I need more information, like is it scanning using the SMB protocol or FTP. Are you using active directory, etc. Usually, when they just quit, it is due to a Microsoft security patch, or a software firewall having been enabled. If you're sure that it is neither of the above, try browsing to the Xerox via the IP address, go to the properties tab, services, network scanning, file repository set-up, and see if the login name used for network scanning is qualified: (i.e. - domain\username) Often, in a business environment, that will help.

To scan a document to file (Scan to File), the WorkCentre must be directly connected to the workstation using a USB or parallel connection. Scan to File is not supported over an Ethernet connection.
