Question about Canon PIXMA MP160 All-In-One InkJet Printer
Each time I use the Canon MP160, I need to fuss with it to get it back online - even if it was last used just a moment before. Whether printing or scanning, it has the same problem. The Windows software has a checkbox that is supposed to keep it from going to sleep but it seems to do nothing. I had hoped that using it in Linux (Ubuntu 8.10) as I am now would help but it does not so whatever is causing it seems to be internal to the printer. Is there some setting that can be made using the printer's own control panel and display to keep it awake? Thanks.

First step I would try is; unplug printer usb cable, then power down printer, reconnect usb cable to printer, power printer back on. If all this fails then lets try one other possible fix. Go to start select RUN & type services.msc, ok now you should have a services window that popped up. On the right hand side locate "Printer Spool" and right click on it, then select "Restart". this should refresh your printer spool. Hope this was helpful.

Try plugging the mfc into another usb port on the computer. The ones in the back are closer to the processor, usually work better.
