No signal on gps

GPS units need to be updated monthly and get the GPS fix downloaded from the internet, As the GPS sattilites fly around this planet, they are not in a stationary orbit, they fly around the continental United States and you have to wait until it returns to the east coast.

connect this to your computer and run a erro scan, go to computer connect the gps and run the scan, it will show up in my computer. Also do a virus scan, also you need to download the most recent GPS sattilite fix down to your unit.

Will not activate with sattilite and will not stay in time

You just need to reset it. I have a 315 and if I don't use it for a while it forgets where it is and what time. So you need to put new batteries in it, reset it and then let it run outside where it can easily see the sattelites. This forces it to download the sattilite catalouge or data and resynch the time. After that it should be working normally again. This can take anywhere from 5-50 minutes which is why you need good batteries.

If you don't have your user manual you can get one free from magellan Here's the direct link to the pdf version.
http://www.magellangps.com/assets/manuals/gps_310_315_en.pdf

The reset is the same as what they call initilization. Thats on Page 4 or (pdf # 12). It's easier to follow what they have then what I can type here as there are about a dozen buttons you need to push. It only takes a minute to do but you have to follow the sequence to get it to reset.

If you don't use any gps for extended periods then they will all need to be reset and resynched to work properlly again. This is just due to the accuracy of the timing and sattelites positions. Thats for any brand or model.

How to do I reset for a Triton 400 to recognize current location

Normally the GPS will be positioned over your current location, once you have a GPS FIX.

Use your profiles and find GPS FIX and make sure it is ON.

If the black caret ^ moves but the map does not you have a problem with the T400.

When in trouble enter the ESC button and see if your problem goes away.

My one 125 will not update to the current time

Do a hard reset. This should force it to reload the sattilite data and update the time.

The reset for your model will be near the back of the manual. Usually is holding down a button and powering on. Then letting it run until it updates (up to an hour)

I have a SG5 skycaddie. It was working fine then all of a sudden I can't get my courses to show up. I get the graphics but it seems like I can't get the satellites. It just keeps searching. I have done a...

Usually when it gets lost it means its data on the available sattilites is bad or out of date. You may need to force it to do a hardware reset. You may have to take the battery out and let it sit for a day (or longer) and then reinstall and start ut up. It should then have to reload the data and work again.

If it has a backup battery you may need to take that out as well. If you do then it will only take a few minutes before you can put it back together again and get it running. I'm not familiar with this unit but the symptoms and fixes are the same as other gps

My x3-t navigation system GPS freezes up

On most gps's that means it is time to reset the unit. This should force it to reload the sattilite catalog information and it should start working. Depending on the unit it can take up to an hour before it it works after rebooting while other new ones do it in a few miutes at most.

I believe this unit has a reset hole on the back so just insert somethign like a toothpick and reset it. Then place it where it can get a signal and let it do its thing. Should behave after that.

My tom tom has lost gps help! all of a sudden half way through a journey my tom tom lost all GPS signal and wont pick up anything? is there anything i can do to get it back?

here are some tips on what to do ,To pinpoint your location, you need to get signals from at least 4 satellites. If you receive signals from less than 4 satellites or the signals are not strong enough, the Driving View stays grey and one of the following messages is shown in the bottom right corner of the Driving View:
  • Waiting for a valid GPS signal
  • The GPS signal was lost sec ago
Note: In previous versions of the TomTom application the message may vary.
If you see any of these messages, try the following:

Finding a GPS signal
In the following cases it can take up to 5 minutes to find your current position:
  • You use your TomTom device for the first time.
  • You haven't used your TomTom device for a longer time.
  • Your TomTom device has been relocated without using it (e.g. after travelling by plane or train).
If it takes longer than 5 minutes, make sure that you are in an open place without tall buildings or trees around you.
Once your TomTom device has located your current position, the Driving View is shown in full colour and shows your position on the map.
Tip: Most TomTom devices can use QuickGPSfix™ to locate your current position faster. Flight mode
On devices with built-in GPRS connectivity, flight mode also disables your device’s GPS reception.
To switch flight mode off, tap Flight mode in the preferences menu and then select Restore connections.
Clear View
Your TomTom device must be outdoors to locate your current position.
Try repositioning your device in your car; ideally, try to position it at the lowest possible point directly on the windscreen.
Some vehicles have a heat reflective shield embedded in the windscreen, which may prevent your device from locating your current position. If this is the case in your vehicle, use the TomTom External Antenna Kit (available as an accessory).
Tip: As a reference, place your device outside your parked car to see if it can find your current position.
Reset your device
Reset your TomTom device. Click here to learn how to reset your device.
Install the latest application
We recommend always having the latest version of our application installed on your device.
