Question about Desa International Blower Glow Warm Wall Heater

Glo-Warm flame problem

We have a Glo-Warm propane infrared 5 burner heater. On burners B1 & B2 the flame comes out the top and the grates never get yellow/red like the others. Can I replace the grates or do I have to replace the burners. What can I do to solve this problem? Do I just need to discard this heater and purchase a new one? This heater is 7 yrs old. It has given us good service with the Thermostat up until last year when the flames started coming out the top of the grate. I would really appreciate any help. If it is just the grates needing replacement, any ideal where I can order two?
Thank You
Carmon

My glo warm plaq doesnt glow red but has flame.thanks

The plaque may be out of place or may need replacing, depending on the age of the heater.
Also, although you have flame, make sure you have flame at that plaque that's equal to the other plaques. If you don't the burner may simply need cleaning.

Glo warm model FA3 burner one and two flame is too high #3 is fine

The higher flame on those 2 burners may be by rusted out. Of course this depends on how old the heater is and how well it has been annually maintained. Unfortunately, DESA International is no longer in business, but some parts are still available. You just have to search the internet for them.

I have a vanguard propane wall heater, 5 burners Model#vp2600c that the two middle burners flame goes above the burners and now has started to burn through at the top, what all parts do i need to replace?

The burner and anything else that was damaged. You might want to get the advice of a local professional. Remember, this thing runs INSIDE your home, where you live, eat and sleep. You want it to be safe, my friend.

Replacement propane control valve for a rmc-tt30dgp heater

OK GUYS HERE IS WHERE YOU GET THE PARTS FOR THESE HEATERS AND THEY ARE CHEAP:

Most of the time malfunction of the burner or no function is due to a burnt wire that got to close to the burner. The wire goes to the thermocoupler that senses that a flame is present. If no flame is present it turns off the gas.

NAME OF COMPANY: GHP Group Inc.
PHONE: 877-447-4768
I talked to a guy name Steve. Ask for the flame sensor or thermocoupler coming off the propane manifold. It cost's $4 plus S & H. The company is in Illinois.

I had to go to Home Depot and get this info off the box for a new one.

Your Welcome.

I have a 5 year old glo-warm ventless heater(propane)that needs a new thermocouple. the old one has an extra wire soldered to it that looks like a grounding wire? all the replacement thermocouples do not...

Since the thermocouple body is made of metal, and often these have a copper or brass sleeve, that *should* provide good grounding for the thermocouple.

Obviously some engineer at the heater company did not agree with this, so he added an extra ground wire.

Most gas valves are not all that sensitive to exactly how many microvolts the thermocouple feeds to it.

My guess would be that if there is a cheap metal bracket that holds the thermocouple, such as unplated steel or tin, the extra ground wire counteracts the effects of corrosion over time.

So if the heater were stored in a damp garage, the thermocouple connection would get corroded, and the heater would not stay lit. The fix is the extra ground wire.

There are two types of failures with thermocouples: the safe-failure is when the gas is shut-off, even when flame is present, and the unsafe failure would be when gas is not shut off, even when no flame is present.

If the thermocouple somehow was not adequately grounded, then the most likely failure would be a 'safe failure' , such that the burner would not stay lit.

You could rig up some sort of extra grounding wire, but unless the part is subject to extreme vibration or is in an extreme (wet/salty) environment, it's probably not needed.

Of course, to be safe, do a flame blow-out test after you install the new part. While it's highly unlikely that an unsafe failure could occur, better safe than sorry.

sounds like when you blew heater out with air compressor you moved brick so flame isn't hitting bottom of brick like they should. You should try and put brick back on top of flame so that you don't get to much heat on the refractory of the heater. The refractory will take the heat for awhile then refractory will start to break down. Then you will either have to install new refractory or replace heater

Soot coming from Wall Heater

The fuel mix it too rich. There should be a place where the gas hose goes into the burner part, and an adjustment where you can adjust how much air it gets. The flame should be almost 100% blue. It can make the grates glow another color, but the flame should be mostly blue.

We had a problem keeping the pilot light to stay on, and this site recommended that it could possibly be the thermocoupler that was causing our problems also. We ordered the thermocouple, put it on,hooked it back up and it worked great! Thank you so much.
ordered thermocouple from www.masterparts.net
