SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. Slide it away from the contacts.

What make and model camera?

Try downloading all your pictures from the card to your computer and then reformatting the card. Alternatively, try another card. What happens then?

How can i transfer my p;ictures from my camara samsung l200 to my memory card because is not saving them?

Welcome to FixYa.

One possible reason is that your memory card is not yet formatted for camera use.
Image or recoridng will be automatically be saved in your memory card, if card is inserted. If not, it will be saved on your internal memory.

Second reason is it is in write protection. The SD/SDHC memory card has a write protect switch that prevents image files from being deleted or formatted. By sliding the switch to the bottom of the memory card, the data will be protected. By sliding the switch to the top of the memory card, the data protection will be cancelled

Before taking pictures you have to slide the switch to the top of the memory card.

Please let me know if you have any questions and if this solution was helpful.

On screen it says memory card is write protected and wont take any pictures

Remove the SD/SDHC memory card. On the side of it is a sliding switch which is used to lock the card to protect your data from being written over or deleted. Slide the switch fully away from the locked position. If it's already away from the locked position then slide it fully to locked and then fully back again.

If this does not work then you have either a faulty card (not uncommon) or a faulty camera (less likely). The card may still be under warranty and most major brands will replace them no questions asked, the camera may be under manufacturer's warranty depending upon where and when you purchased it. If you're in the UK then you'll additionally have Sale of Goods Act protection for up to six years (five in Scotland) and the claim would be against the retailer for selling goods which are not sufficiently durable. The camera can't be much over a year old at most and for the price paid it should last rather longer than that provided it hasn't been misused.

This should fix your problem, if so please return the favour by rating my answer.

I have a Digital Rebel 40 D camera less than 1 year old and I removed the memory card and I cannot get it to go back into the slot. The eject button is still depressed after I depressed it to eject the...

im no expert, but i would use a flashlight to look inside the memory card holder and see if anythings messed up, and maybe jiggle the eject button a bit, and just maybe the button doesnt come up again until you push in the memory card. give it a little push they arent too terribly delicate. but make sure you are putting in the right direction. hope this helps

It is normally an easy fix and you can follow a method that I posted on my tips here:

Memory card is write protected

Hi. I am turtle84. I called Nikon and found out that I had to move the button on the side of the memory card. I guess when you put the card in and out of the machines in the store it moves the button on the side. My camera is fine now. No more annoying message and it works!

DiMage Z6 turns off when trying to view pictures

I posted this on another section:

My Z6 worked flawlessly for over a year, then suddenly started shutting off for no reason. Tried new batteries, etc. The problem turned out to be the memory card. My advice, buy a GOOD card instead of a new camera! Keep in mind, flash cards DO have a "life" to them - meaning they can only be used / erased so many times before they will cause errors (so don't buy a used card off of ebay - no matter HOW good the deal seems). If your shutdown problem started with a "unable to read card" warning, then its the card. The camera is actually "protecting" itself by shutting down. Good luck!
