Chain saw motor is smoking

Hi Mark:
I'll go over the basics so please ignore what you already know.
Chain saws are 2 cycle which means the gas must have oil added. The ratio is 50:1 typically.
Chain saws are air cooled so they get HOT. They like to be kept clean, and a build up of oily sawdust is an invitation to an unwanted fire.
The chain is lubricated by a thick oil that gets put in a different tank. If you run out of chain oil, the chain will get really hot and you can actually ruin the bar by overheating it. A good rule is to always fill the chain oil tank (with chain oil) at the same time that you fill the fuel tank (with gas/oil mix)
Make sure the chain is kept SHARP. A blunt chain makes the saw work harder and causes friction which generates heat.
On a regular basis, take the bar off and clean the brake assembly and all the bits and crannies. Compressed air and solvent will make the job easy.
Chain tension should be kept snug but not too tight. I like to be able to lift the chain at the centre of the bar and have the underside just barely clear the groove in the bar.
Lots of bars have a roller at the tip and there is a fitting to inject grease. It's a good idea to use it regularly.
I think that about covers it. If you have any specific questions, send 'em on.

How do i serviced the fuel system on the OZPCS305A chain saw

first check for split in Primer bowl.
Check to see if Heaver fuel filter in the tank broke off the end of the gas line. That's typical with this horrid Ethanol Gas.

Replace fuel line in husqvarna 141 chain saw

The fuel line on the 141 is very small and wasn't really meant to be replaced for some reason, as it is a pinch fit. Buy the smallest fuel line you can, usually 1/8th OD inch fuel line. Remove the air-filter and the carburetor. You will need to drill out the
current hole a little bit, so go slowly. As soon as the new fuel line will fit _tightly_ insert the line. You will have to remove the hand-bar and the
anti-vibration bolts to separate the motor mount portion from the gas tank which is part of the hand grip.

Apply some gasoline proof gasket sealant to the space between the gap, else you will have a gas leak from the tank sooner or later.

Reassemble the grip and motor sections back together and let the sealant dry for a day or so. Put the carb and air filter back on and attach the fuel line to the carb and the other end to the fuel filter in the gas tank.

Lost my manual for my Poulan wild thing 2375 chainsaw and I want to fill it up with oil and fuel.

Fill the oil tank at the front of the saw with a non fling chain oil, or as thick an oil as you can get, fill the fuel tank with a 25-1 fuel oil mix, use a good, well known brand of two stroke oil designed to be used in chainsaws.

The saw is a poulan 3416 ,2 yr old, purchased new. the problem is starts ok 6 primer pushes idles ok then will either die after first cut or as soon as you pull trigger

Run too lean, this is fuel starvation, remove the fuel line from the tank and replace the filter on the end, check the fuel hose from the tank up to the carb for leaking or cracking.

I filled my 340 husqvarna chainsaw for the first time this year and it leaked gas from someshere opposite the fuel fill tank( maybe near the fuel line). It then quit leaking and just will not start. Maybe...

Opposite the fuel fill is the tank breather, and the return to tank hose if the machine has a primer, the back to tank hose fits on to an orange connection in the tank, it may have slipped off, next to it is the breather the early breather was two white pellets pressed into the tank, these will need to be removed and replaced if this is where the leak is from, the later breather is a white round assembly with a connection on the top, nothing fits to this conection, the breather can be pulled and and replaced if required.

After replacing the fuel lines on a mac3200 gas is running out of the bottom of the saw, after the tank emptys the fuel quits leaking. the saw runs great though

This is usually because you used a fuel line that is too small to seal the holes they pass through in the fuel tank. When they pass through the holes in the tank they should be very tight so gas cannot leak past the lines.

My Poulan Pro 260 chainsaw will start and run when the choke is pulled out, but as soon as I disengage the choke, the saw dies. Do I need to have the carbuerator checked?

It is running in a lean condition. Continued operation like that can cause piston and cylinder failure.
I'd take it in for repair estimate ($10) at the local chainsaw seller/mechanic. Explain the problem you are having, Probably a leaking fuel line. I'd expect a repair and tune up about $40-60. Your saw will perform better and your arm will thank you. If tuned ask what fuel/oil ratio they used (should be 50:1) and affix a label to your fuel tank. HTH
