Do you use itunes?
this is what i do:
i choose a song, convert it to MP3 before i do anything, then i cut out up to 18 seconds of a song, then i convert it again so its only my desired amount of seconds, then i load it on and use it.

the phone wont use a ringtone longer then about 18 seconds! i learned that the hard way :]

hope this helps

I am trying to figure out how to set a .amr tone as my ring/ message tone on a Cingular Phone?

I think I read on a review that you can't set your own recordings as ringtones on the LG Shine. There might be a way around it but I know that you can't directly do it. Sorry. You will need to convert the tone to mp3 format you are correct. The easiest way to do this is to download a software program that converts audio files, (there should be a ton for free on google.com). Once you have converted the file to the correct format you can transfer it back to the Shine. The only other issue you might run into is the length. LGs are restrictive in that the tone can only be a certain size, even in the correct format, to be applied as a ringtone. But, there are also software programs you can get to edit the size of the audio tone.

Lg Shine Flip Ringtones

-Make sure the file is appropriate.. 30 seconds or less, mp3 format
-When you add your music to the memory card, it shows up as a song but not as a ringtone right?

The solution is to create a different folder rather than using the “Music” folder the phoneautomatically creates for you. Transfer your music to this new folder you’ve created. The ringtones should show up as long as it fits the requirements

Hope this helps

LG shine ringtone

Make sure the file is mp3 format, 600 kb or smaller, and 30 seconds or less. You can make your own ringtones at the following sites:

www.cellsea.com
www.makeownringtone.com
www.ventones.com
www.myxertone.com

Once you have your ringtones ready, there are many different steps you can follow depending on what you have available on your phone.

1. If you have internet/text messaging: sites like cellsea and myxertone will provide you with instructions.

2. If you have a usb cable: connect your phone making sure it's in Mass Storage Mode. You can do this by going to settings, connection, usb connection mode, mass storage. Open the folder for your phone on your computer. It should be one of the choices of storage when you go to My Computer. Place your ringtones into the Sounds folder. And voila! It should be in the ringtone menu in your phone.

3. If you have a MicroSD memory card: Create a folder on the memory card. Name it anything other than Music (the phone will automatically create a Music folder which can not be used as ringtones). Once you insert your card into your phone, the tunes should come up when you open your ringtone menu!

Hope this helps! Good luck! :)

If you want to get free ringtone's off the computer for you lg then go to youtube.com and type in ringtone's for lg and it will show you a variety of clips you can choose from, when you find the one you like, follow it along. You should get your ringtone's soon after that.

SOLUTION!!! (for those with a memory card but no usb cable!)

I’ve been having the same problem in trying to find a way to set my music as ringtones. Here’s what you can do:

-Make sure the file is appropriate.. 30 seconds or less, mp3 format
-When you add your music to the memory card, it shows up as a song but not as a ringtone right?

The solution is to create a different folder rather than using the “Music” folder the phone automatically creates for you. Transfer your music to this new folder you’ve created. The ringtones should show up as long as it fits the requirements! :] Hope this helps!
