Question about Dyson DC07 Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum

1 Answer

My dc07 won't **** up on carpet unless it's almost fully upright

I have to hold it at a weird almost fully upright position in order to get any siction. The hose works fine, but the base doesn't. I want to be able to vacuum and hold the cleaner at a normal angle. My kids can't hold it at all because it's too difficult for them to hold it almost fully upright. Help!!

Yup, the hose works fine but when I work it in an upright postion, seems that there is no enough weight pushing down on the front to makie the beaters do their job. http://itmass.com

Advacak:The vacuum not suctioning has nothing to do with dirt. In my post I mentioned how you have to hold the vacuum at a ridiculous angle to get it to actually suction anything up. It seems the area for actual suctioning is so small. I don't understand why the maker of Dyson didn't make that bigger? It's a small hole where the dirt goes into, so it relies on the brush to push it all into that small hole. I'm really disappointed in this vacuum, it was way expensive and doesn't do what I need it to do. The brushes spin and it does have suction, but only if you hold it almost fully upright. So, I still need an answer to my problem. Thank you!!

Likely theres dirt on the pivots, try cleaning them ,but be very carefull taking it apart, they break easily and theres virtually no repair parts out there
next time around, get a panasonic

The bare floor/carpet switch moves on it's own from bare floor to carpet all the time.

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC07. When you have your brush control set to 'Carpets', the brushbar should run when the cleaner is reclined into the vacuuming position, and shut off when you stand the cleaner upright. When you have the brush control set to 'Hard floors', it should remain in the off position until you change it manually back to 'Carpets'.

If it won't stay in the 'Hard floors' position during use, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly so we can determine if there's a fault, and recommend the best course of action. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US). We'll look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

Brush will not rotate but still has suction

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC14. Please note, the brushbar will never rotate when the cleaner is standing in the upright position, or if you have the brush control set to 'Hard floors'.

However, if you find the brushbar won't rotate when you've reclined the cleaner into the vacuuming position, and have the brush control set to 'Carpets', it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly. One of our experts will be happy to run through some troubleshooting over the phone with you, and recommend the best course of action. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US).

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC07. If the brushbar in your cleaner doesn't seem to be rotating, please check you have the brush control set to 'Carpets', as it won't rotate when set to 'Hard floors', or if the cleaner is standing in the upright position.

If the brush control is set correctly and the brushbar still won't turn, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly. One of our experts will be happy to run through some troubleshooting over the phone with you, and recommend the best course of action. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US).

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

The brush control is designed to switch the brush bar off automatically when you stand the machine back into the upright position. It is designed this way to protect any delicate floor surfaces when you have the machine switched on and upright and when you are using the hose.

If the brush control should be in the centre position and move forward to the "on" position when you release the head. If it is not doing this, please contact our Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK) or 1866MYDYSON (US).
