Question about HP Officejet 4315 All-in-One Printer

1 Answer

Want to use the printer, but don't want the fax

In order to be able to print a document, I first have to return to an earlier date using SYSTEM RESTORE (Win-XP). This is a pain in the neck, but if I don't do it this way, the printer starts going through "dialing" and since it isn't connected to a phone line, I get all sorts of interesting messages.

Have been all throuh the manual - nothing compares with this sort of problem.

Hello,

I would suggest that you disconnect the usb cable from the printer. Then uninstall all programs related to the printer through Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel.

After restarting the computer with the printer still disconnected you can follow the directions below to download the latest drivers.

To download the drivers you can go here. When the page opens you will need to choose your operating system. Then, from the Drivers section I would choose the full feature driver.

Once you click that, you will see a Install Now button that will allow you to immediately install the software and/or a Download Only button that will allow you to download the file for later installation.

Either option will have a link below them that says View Directions which can be used to get step by step instructions for installation of the drivers.

Hope this helps. Please rember to rate this information.

Thanks

How to receive fax documents

You cannot receive fax using this printer, because this printer doesn't support fax sending/receiving. Only fax supported printers can receive fax documents. You will know if a printer is fax support if you see a Fax button there or if you can see a numpad buttons where you can dial numbers.

These are the photo examples of fax printers

HP C4680 Goes Offline

Hi
Just a thought, did you use the HP CD that came in the box?
Go to Apple's website and look under the support - downloads section. You'll find a mega-sized download of up-to-date HP drivers. Download it and install it.
Then open the print and Fax setting in system preferences and remove the existing HP printer, You should then have no printers listed in the printer box.
make sure the printer is connected to the macbook and switched on and then use the Plus symbol to add a new printer. In less than a moment your printer name should appear in the empty space. Select it and wait. You should then get a thing saying 'Print Using...." It should fill in automatically with info about the driver being used.
Do what ever it asks and then close the window and see if you can print without the earlier problems.

Does printer need to be connected to a pc?

From the Brother website: The MFC-5440cn offers both a versatile flatbed and an automatic document feeder with faxing and copying that don’t require the use of a computer. Add to that the spectacular high-resolution printing and scanning with both a USB 2.0 full speed and an Ethernet interface and you have the perfect all-in-one for the Small Office/Home Office user to create and print professional color documents. You can even print borderless photos.
Hope this helps & please remember to rate my answer. Thanks.
