Pull the air bag fuse...
Then get all that stuff on the steeringwheel (there is some philips head screws in the back side of the wheel)
When you get it off, there, you will see a nut, remove the nut, and you will need a steering wheel puller, to get it off. They cost about $10 at the auto parts store.
There is sets of bolts to bolt the puller to the steering wheel, and then put the long bolt through the center of the puller, and tighten it up, until the steering wheel comes off.
It's not hard to do, or require any special skills.

The best thing to do is to buy a Chilton,s repair manual. It has step by step procedures. You can get one at most auto parts stores. They coast anywhere from $10-$30 dollars.

sounds like the vehicle needs to be serviced by a dealer. is it under 36000 miles? factory warranty runs 3 years or 36K whichever comes first. check with your local dealer or the NHTSA for related recalls or TSBs

Take off the cover underneath the dash. Push the rubber boot down at the very bottom (Sometimes you have to cut them a little to move them down far enough) Should be an 11mm bolt down there someplace. then disconnect everything and take off the other bolts should be 13s or 15s going straight up. then just yank it out to separate it from the rack and it should come right out.

Either the pin that connects rod to tranny is broken off, or there is internal transmission problems.
