Hi deb lewis,
the orange power light is your warning that your power supply is going bad. I'd replace the power supply with the same size or larger (preferred)
Best of Luck

SOURCE: DELL GX 280 CPU PROBLEMS

100% motherboard issue guys. The dude above that said flash the new bios should realize that when you CANNOT post a machine you CANNOT flash the bios unless the bios chip is removable and you have another machine to flash it with. The only fix for this is a new motherboard.

My pc will not stay powered on

OverheatingWhen the CPU overheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermaloverload) and won't boot up again until it has cooled down. If this is theproblem is not fixed then the CPU will eventually fail.
A faulty fan causes the problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are cloggedwith dust.
Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan.
If the fan and heat sink is clogged with dust the remove the dust and make surethe vents are clear and dust free. Use a small brush and can of compressed airto do this.

No power only orange power light

Hi, It most likely is a faulty power supply or a motherboard issue. Remove the power cord then press and hold the power button for at least 30 seconds. Then plug it back in and hit the power button. This will release any static buildup that might be in the computer and sometimes that causes it not to boot. If nothing is happening it is more likely your power supply than the motherboard.

My computer won't boot up and the orange light just stays on. The moniter is working, the fans in the power supply is working

Could be your motherboard. Does anything come up on the screen at all when you boot up? Do you hear a beep at startup? Also check to make sure your hard drive is spinning just to be sure.

My computer won't boot up and the orange light just stays on. The moniter is working, the fans in the power supply is working. I was fine yestyerday. I put in hibernate and tried to cut back on today...

Remove the RAM and install it again and restart.....it will work if still not work then change remove RAM again and start your machine..it will give beep sound...if it will not give beep sound then understand your machine's mother board is faulty......

Dell e310 won't start after power failure ,orange

First up, don't buy a Dell again unless you like old **** with horrible support.

On Topic

- Did you pull out the keyboard and try another USB port (if it is an USB keyboard), or try another keyboard.
- If that doesn't work try clearing the CMOS (remove power plug, power on (to empty capasitors), either remove the CMOS battery and power on, or find a jumper to reset the CMOS. (since this is a Dell a that might not exist but check the manual).

My Dell 530s rebooted last night and when turning on it acts like it is starting, but the fan just runs and the button is showing an orange light and the fan continues to run- nothing on the monitor.

Hardware failure - most likely the motherboard has failed. If you don't have another pc to swap components for testing then it will be cheaper to just buy a new one than to have it sent to a repair shop.

Dell Inspiron 530 boots then the screens turn off to orange light

Is the PC actually doing to sleep or is the display just amber with the fan and power light on the PC still running?

Do you have multiple video cards or multiple ports?
You may have the monitor plugged into the non-default port on your video card or the wrong card. Try plugging the monitor into another port as the PC should use all outputs when booting but then define a default display once the driver is loaded. Also take a look at the default video display in your BIOS settings. Depending on what your setup is you should be able to choose between (onboard, PCI, AGP)
