Question about Video Game Consoles & Games

1 Answer

Playstation 3 60GB: all cables are connected correctly and there seems to be no damage (at least on the outside). However, after turning on the switch at the back and pressing the reset button, the red light turns green briefly, then yellow, then into a flashing red light. What's wrong??

I have red many forums on this issue, and it appears to be a system error and the system will be replaced if you still have your warranty and proof of purchase

Some people think that it is an overheating issue and to leave it powered off for a few hours before trying again, although sadly I do believe that you are having a system error and would recommend that you contact customer service at sony.

Why does my playstation 3 keep turning off and the red light keeps flashing?

This can can be any one of numerous issues. The first step toward setting everything to rights is to discover what the light is trying to communicate, outside of the obvious fact that your system is not working. First, disconnect everything from the unit, power cable, HDMI, component cables, controller-charging cables or anything else you may have connected.

Allow the unit to sit and cool off for a few minutes before re-attaching all the component wires. It is a good idea to begin with just the connection to the television. You can also try a manual reset of the system if the above steps do not work, simply press and hold the power button for ten seconds.

If none of the above works, you are dealing with a serious PS3 flashing red light issue. This could be a faulty power supply, dead hard drive or malfunctioning CPU just to name a few. You will need to check all these components out and determine if they are still functioning correctly. Screwdrivers and a few other common household tools may be required.

I have a black screen when I connect the HDMI cable. When I connected it originally it worked for about 5 minutes but now I get nothing but the black screen. I tried connecting a different HDMI cable to it...

The main reason of HDMI black screen problem due to HDMI cable may damage and not proper connected to the PS3 console. Please follow below step to troubleshoot PS3 HDMI cables problem:1) Restart your PlayStation 3.
2) Look for loose cables.
3) Try to unplug all cables except the power cord, and plug them back in. If you found out that your HDMI cable is damage, do borrow your friend cable and have a try. If your friend cable work fine, and the black screen error disappear. Then you can buy a brand new HDMI cable for replacement.
Tips 2: If tips 1 not working, you need to go another step deeper by reset your console. Most of the PS3 gamers not aware that Sony actually done include in the black screen troubleshooting method and other HDMI problems in the PS3 manual, you can find it under troubleshooting section - topic "console reset".
If you do it correctly, the console reset fix will allow you to reset back your PS3 to its default HDMI settings without impacting your gamer profile, and other storage data in hard drive.
You will need to perform the following steps:

1. Place your PS3 in stand-by mode.
2. Hold down the touch power button until a series of beeps are heard.
3. Listen for one long beep, followed to two shorter beeps.
4. Release the power button.
5. Follow the instructions on screen.

Ps3 40gb (not slim) freezes wen playng mag and black ops

The problem is not with your PlayStation 3, it is your connection ( if online) or the disk.
For the disk:
Wash the disk with water, no damage happens, it only cleans the outside.

For the connection:
If you have cable, then just clean the ends with a brush and insert it back inside.
If wireless, shut all connections and wireless devices down and restart the 3 minutes later.

Will not eject disc and when i push the power button it turns off on its own

Could be a few reasons for this. If it's been dropped, the cogs could be misaligned, you will need to take the CD unit apart and reassemble correctly. If someone has attempted to fit a mod chip there could be damage around the part of the board where the wires for pins 5 & 6 are soldered. Check for damage to tracks and excess solder, it is also possible that the BA8510 or BA8515 chip has been damaged. Also it could be the flat flexible cable that connects the power/reset & eject buttons to the main board. Check for physical damage and replace if need be.

How do you hook up ps3 to tv

What you need to do is make sure that your cables are indeed in the correct spot. Also make sure that your TV is turned to the correct channel. If you are connecting via Red, White, Yellow cables then you need to make sure your TV is turned to the video input. Also an FYI if you have cable that can interfere with your PS3 so to be safe make sure that your cable box is turned off.

Difficutly with connecting optical digital cables

Yes the digital audio cable should be inserted until there is a firm, clicking connection. It should only be able to fit in correctly with one orientation. It should be slightly difficult to remove when properly connected.

If your cable is slipping out, then I suggest you have a defective cable or (hopefully not) a damaged/defective optical connection port.

Check your connections to make sure that they are plugged securely into your television, if they are, make sure the selector switch on the cable is set correctly. The last thing that I would do, is to try another video cable. If that one is damaged in any way and taking on some sort of outside noise it would explain the fuzziness. Monster makes a great cable that is heavily shielded and takes on minimal noise from outside devices.
