TOMTOM 910 looks like it is charging while in the charge cradle (green power light is on). But, it does not turn on when the power button is pressed. It is passed the 2 year warranty period. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
According to Kevin A who says, and thanks by the way (There is a reset button on the back at the top of the unit. It should be on the right side as you turn the unit around. Insert a paperclip or pin into this hole, and the unit should reset) at it works 100% because I tried this morning after being quoted £55 to have my GO910 fixed and now it works after the price of a paper clip. Put the receiver in the charging cradle. Does the green charging light appear? If it does not, you might just have a defective cradle and hence a completely flat battery; try charging with the car charger and retry. If it doesn't charge with either charger, the power section of the TomTom is obviously gone.
Assuming you now have a charged TomTom, keep the power button pressed for five seconds. If it does not turn on, try resetting it by inserting a paper clip in the RESET hole hidden below the front cover.
If it still does not turn on, it's either a defective power button or a faulty mainboard, and I'm afraid you can't easily fix either; you'll have to send it to maintenance.
Have same thing. I did call Tomtom and they are guessing ,just like me ,that battery is dead and offered me US$ 75 off brand new go 730 and old one u can keep. Was told ,they dont sell battery replacement .
Sounds like someone will sue their **** soon as class action .
In the box you have a 'desktop' mount. Looks like the windscreen mount without the ******. Also you will have got a mains power lead. Plug the lead into the 'desktop mount' (Left hand side) of the stick up bit. Plug in and put your 910 onto the mount. It will 'Click' into place The green light will shine to show it's charging.
To release the unit from the mount PRESS in the button in the middle of the screen top rim and lift off.
Remember to turn of the power at the socket to stop wasting electricity
The usb part of the desktop mount goes into your pc so you can connect to TomTom home or just plain old 'back it up' It is ok to have power switched on or off when connect to the pc, there is no need to unplug the jackplug.
