Question about Samsung LN-T4053H 40 in. LCD Television

1 Answer

Can't get picture in wide format on the menu. 16:9 and 4:3 only.

My Samsung LN-T4043H LCD TV will not let me get the picture screen in the wide format. When I use the 16:9 format the cars and people all look too wide and fat, so I have to use the 4:3 format for the objects to look the normal size and if I use the the 4:3 format, I'm not using the entire width of my TV...I may as will be using a standard TV since I can't use the wide screen. The menu has the wide format in shaded gray when I scroll down the picture menus so I can't select the wide format. Is there a way I can get the TV remote menu to highlight the wide format so I can select it? Thanks, Curt

I had the same problem with a 50". The only way I could fix it was to set my Bose system to 4:3 format and the tv to 16:9. Now you can use the zoom to get the right size

good luck

I'm willing to bet you have a backlight problem. Turn on the TV, take bright flashlight and shine it on the screen. Do you see the faint image???

Screen has borders when watching tv

This is common issue of the channels that use 4:3 format while TV is designed for 16:9. To get it disappear, you just go to picture option, choose WIDE FIT, this fuction will widen the picture to whole screen. Of course, you have to accept the picture is blur a bit.

Picture issues

Greetings caesar975,

Unfortunately if you chose to view the non HD channels in wide screen format, you are going to have the top and bottom of the screen cut off. Eventually this will not be a problem when everything goes to digital. However presently non HD channels are presented in 3:2 ratio where as HD is 16:9, So your choice really is to view them with the lines on either side for now.

I do not have an answer for the white flickering lines.

To get the BEST picture out of your 1080p unit I highly recommend using HDMI cables to hook it up.

I hope some of this helps.

Sincerely,

Dorothy

Picture Size problem with Samsung Flat panel LN-T3253H

You should contact Samsung service to know if the internal setup for the picture sizing was not adjusted properly at the factory.

Take care that some of these sets have a user zoom mode. Maybe it is in the zoom mode. Check in your instruction manual before calling for service support.

Also, try adjusting the settings on your cable box, not on the TV. The usually solves the problem and will then allow you to adjust the size of the picture.

Black end "stripes" on non-HD images on LN-2341W

Arte you using a cable provider? if so you should be able to adjust it to a wide screen or stretch, most cable providers are supposed to apply the settings when installing the box, so that the screen will auto fit your set, otherwise you will get image retention
