Question about Dell Dimension 5100 (D51L1) PC Desktop
PC is Dell Dimension 5100 - my son sought advice from a helpline when gaming online. They carried out tests which required them to take the firewall down. My son forgot to restore the firewall and a virus appeared to enter our system which rendered the PC unusable. The system has now been totally wiped and Windows XP Professional /MS Office put back on. However we are unable to connect to cable broadband Virgin service. Attempting to connect directly via modem and cable. Virgin technician suggested software may be missing. Perhaps internet drivers? Can you advise or direct to a download? There is a connection from a laptop via the modem so the fault must be with the PC. If this ever gets sorted we need to re-establish our network via Trendnet router - may require more assistance with that!
