I need to bypass a filter in RS267LASH Samsung refrigerator

I have installed under-sink water filter and now need no filter in refrigerator ($40/months every 6 months makes no sense).

Is there a way to do that so the light is not blinking on refrigerator and the filter is not required to be replace?

Same problem.  I have reverse osmosis going to fridge and the only thing the Samsung water filter does is slow down the water coming out of the fridge.

From the Samsung Online FAQ for my RF266AASH

Can I Use the Water Dispenser Without a Water Filter? I need to bypass a filter in RS267LASH Samsung ref - spacer.gif The water and ice dispensers will work without an AquaPure water filter installed. The water filter housings are designed as rotary valves that allow the water to bypass the water filter whenever there is no filter or the filter is not in the lock position.
Models designed for use with the AquaPure water filter are shipped with a cap in place to cover the opening and keep it free of debris prior to the installation of the water filter. It is not necessary to have this cap in place for the unit to bypass the water nor is it intended to plug the housing to prevent leaks.
Note: This does not apply to the Quatro Convertible models. The filter must be installed on this model.

The Samsung refrigerator filter is costly. The way to "bypass" it to NOT bypass it, I will explain: The DA29-00012A filter holder is built into the fridge, not worth the trouble to bypass it there. The way to do it is the followiing: Take a used filter, carefully cut it open by the seam where it was glued together. Empty out the contents, clean it internally, and glue it back together. You can use PVC pipe glue for that as it melts the case together. A thin piece of PVC material glued over the re- glued seam will insure water tightness. Now your light will be normal and use a quality external filter as required. You will never have to replace that filter again. External filters last 1-2 years at much lower cost.

No need to make your own. Samsung sells a bypass cap for less than it will cost to ship it.
    From Samsung's site:

refrigerators : Where Can I Purchase A Water Filter By-Pass Cap?

If your home has a whole house water filtration system, and you do not wish to use your refrigerators internal water filter, you can purchase a water filter bypass cap from our parts supplier. The part number for the by-pass cap is: DA67-00466A. To order the by pass cap, please click here, or call 800-627-4368

Note: This cap will fit all Samsung refrigerators with Aqua Pure Water filters.

I too have been looking for a bypass for our samsung rsg257 refrigerator and did experiment down the path above. Didn't work out well. A new search came to "wintermute76" post...OMG...some times we make things harder than they are. IF YOU DON'T WANT TO USE THE WATER FILTER (we have a house filter due to hard water w/ minerals) JUST TAKE IT OUT...it automatically will bypass. The filter light will not go away but for saving $110 bucks a year, I can live with that.

There is NO bypass filter for the RF263BEAEBC. Filter MUST be in place or water will not flow. I am trying to figure out a work around by using the "cut and gut" method. It is slow going.

  • neal930 Sep 22, 2014

I have tried and tried with no luck. I refuse to give up my RO system and pay 50 bucks for a filter that does not really filter much at all. I am thinking this is intentional by Samsung. "Forcing" folks to buy useless filters an high prices. Make you think twice about buying anything made by Samsung.

How can I bypass the fridge water filter on my Samsung RA4287HAR refrigerator?

I know your model is Samsung but on whirlpools when you remove the filter it automatically bypasses the filter through the filter housing I would try that with someone that can turn the water off before you do it just in case I'm wrong about Samsung removal of the filter should allow it to automatically bypass otherwise you will have to buy a I believe a 5/16 Union and just bypass the two lines in and out where you can reach him on the outside

We are contemplating buying a samsung fridge However we currently have a whirlpool with the water filter on it. How would we disconnect the water filter currently installed to connect a new samsung fridge?

I'm not sure I understand your question, so forgive me if I'm incorrect. I'm confused as to wether your whirlpool has an internal filter or if you have an external stand-alone unit.

I have a samsung refridgerator and the water filter is inside the fridge located at the back on the upper right. In fact, all Samsung RAF/AES models come with this internal filter. Depending on where you buy it, often times the delivery guys will set it up for free. They will simply disconnect your old fridge, remove it , reconnect the water hose to your new Samsung and be on their way.

If you choose to do it yourself, simply remove the old fridge, follow the hose to under your sink and remove the old one. Run the new house by attaching it to the appropriate place on your sink and over to the back of the fridge. Also, many modern homes have a cold water tap behind the fridge, so you might be able to connect it there if you do.

Either way, whether you have an external unit or inyernal hose

My samsung rs267lash, the coil inside the refrigerator section keep on freezing up also just under the fan and it's stoping the fan

Most likely the defrosting heating element has burnt out and needs to be replaced. I know it seems contradictory but modern refrigerators rely on a heating element cycling on a couple of times daily to keep the condenser core from freezing up.

Please rate my response.

RS267lash samsung refrig. display panel fridge

Sounds like the fan unit is faouling with ice. The solution is to remove the whole of the contents and then the units inside at the rear. Defrost same and re assemble. Its not that hard if you remove the light difuser first and the two screws. Mark the difuser for top. Then ease out the unit and remove after taking out the electrical connections. They fit only one way. The lower unit has four screws. Two under covers. Easy to unclip. The ice seal may mean that it is not that easy to remove. Defrost both the units with a hairdryer or similar and clear insulation from the fan drain. Re assemble when clear and as dry as you can. The problem will come back so be aware that you have to repeat the procedure when the fan gives signs of fouling. Paul.

Model #RS267LASH fridge is not cooling but freezer side is. What could be the problem with this Samsung? Thanks,

If your RS267LASH refridgerator is not cooling it is because it is not defrosting. In order to fix it they will have to take it into the shop to cut into the copper wiring, remove the freon and change out the probe inside. The parts and labor are covered under warranty for 5 years. This was the last thing done to mine after changing out the board, a fan, and a thermocouple.

Water leaking at filter

If this is a Pure source 2 filter in the upper right hand side of fridge, Purchase an Electrolux filter bypass, P/N 241944302. This is a empty cartridge that lets water flow without water drip when filter is clogged. Fridgidaire/Electrolux made no bypass in these filters, so when clogged they leak. Plus they NEVER last more than about 30/60 days. If you use the bypass, you will need a separate filter elsewhere such as in water line under sink or behind fridge. Call me at 816-560-8545 if you need more info.
