Question about Toshiba Satellite A135-S4527 Notebook

2 Answers

Blank Screen Worked fine. Had a blue screen and rebooted. On reboot the screen displays nothing. You would not even think it was on. Sometimes it will stay on (when plugged in) and others it will not even begin to boot up regardless of lack of display. It seems like the screen is dead and the machine is struggling without a power lead. Even with the power supply it still displays nothing even if the power lights stay on and it appears to go through booting up (sound). It is a Toshiba l300 laptop.

Nothing happening even if I press F8 as I have no display. Tried hooking up to external monitor but nothing there either. In fact it won't even turn on now without the power lead being in aswell, even then still no screen just a light and a noise on startup to say it is on?

Hi I think I have the same problem - the computer went from a blue screen seemed to blow out and wont' come on since. Tried taking out battery, using just power source etc but nothing. Sounds like it is going to do something but nothing! Bought in November 2008 and haven't used that much so will take back to shop too I think but any other ideas please?

Remove the battery and try on AC power only, try on external monitor again and don't forget to use the switch keys ( hold Fn and press one of the F keys that has two tv icons ) also take the memory out and clean, if you have more than one memory module, put them in one at a time, rebooting the machine each time

hope this helps

keep us informed

the reason for the blue screen, is a hardware or software failure. this means that it may not be the motherboard and could be something else. If you say you only bought it two weeks ago, then of course, take it back and have the problem resolved by them

    Thanks for using Fixya!

Sounds like the mother board is failed..try one more thing..remove battery, run on power supply only, and see if that helps..otherwise, it's motherboard replacement time.

I have an acer aspire 5630 it has worked well for nearly 4 years, about 4 months back I noticed that the screen would be dark and slightly reddish for the first 30 seconds to a minute after turning it on...

hi

try rebooting the system (i think its F8, to get to SAFEMODE) . in DESKTOP , right click and go to PROPERTIES, go to SETTINGS, go SCREEN RESOLUTION and take the arrow to the left ; set to 640x800 and and take the color setting to 256 drop down . hopefully this works after rebooting the system. if it doesnt, it may sound like the inverter card may be bad (PC bourd that connectes to the screen : this requires a service technician)

good luck !

Screen not working but other monitor work

Your "F"keys are multi function. Look for the one with a picture of a monitor. Press the FN key adt the appropriate F key at the same time. You are probably in remote monitor mode. The F key is usually F5 or F8.

Acer Aspire 5052 nothing on LCD

If the LCD display worked until the processor over heated and then went blank, and would work again once it cooled down, then yes I do. As you described above, the screen going blank and blank still on reboot ( no time to cool down ), then the next day the LCD displayed again ( cooled down over night ). Appears to be directly related to the over heating problem.
But if the display problem progressed to the point that the PC would boot up cold and the display was still blank, then I would think your graphics card will need repair.

Turn on Laptop gets to desktop with icons then screen goes blank

By "where I want to go", do you mean going on the internet? If all you are getting is a blank screen, then you have the "about:blank" virus. Go here, print out the instructions, and read them well. Then read them again and follow them closely. At one time I had it on a desktop system and the instructions worked just fine.

Blank screen

Quite possible that the machine is defaulting to external display only. Check your BIOS for this and try any function keys/switches that are available.

Freezing then blank screen

Have you tried pressing F8 on boot-up and log into safe mode under administrator, no password, and right click on any empty space on the desktop, left click on properties, left click on settings, select a lower resolution,( e.g. 1024X768 ) select apply, select ok, reboot, log in as normal
