Open Question

I have a model kx-tg6071 phone set (4) that I can not get out of mute mode. I have unplugged the wall unit as well as the phone line and hooked them back up,but it didn't solve the problem. mgmoore@mcn.net

    None of your suggestions worked. I finally had to buy a new phone. Pretty bad for a phone only 9 mos. old, huh? Didn't buy a Panasonic this time! mgmoore@mcn.net

SOURCE: Panasonic Phones are on mute and will not work

The following is generic for most cordless phones:

Did you check to make sure that the phone is not in the intercom mode? If this phone has a base station speaker phone, make sure it is not on mute. Some of these phones have a fax connection. Make sure your phone line is not accidently pluged in to the fax section. Also if the phone has a fax monitoring feature check the the setup menu that the fax is not enabled. If the phone has an answering machine mode, make sure that this feature is turned off.

In the worse case:
There may be a defect in the X-Mit section of the phone. I would suspect the fault to be in the base.

SOURCE: Phnoe and Answering System Inoperative - E1 flashing

I read about this, and while you were gone, if your power went out, try unplugging the batteries from the back of both phones for a few minutes & put them back in..I hope this helps!

We followed your instructions and are not sure what worked, however, this AM phone line is working.

and time - the short way and the long way.
If you are using the KX-T7730 phone on a Panasonic
KX-Txx 308/824 system:

SHORT WAY:

KX-T7730 - Used to have 3 incoming/outgoing lines. Have cut this down to 2(lines 1 and 3). Outgoing calls are automatically selected by line 3, 2, 1. When calling out the second person can't get an outside...


If you are using the KX-T7730 phone on a Panasonic KX-Txx 308 or 824 system.
From the Switchboard / Main telephone ( usually ext 101, 10 or 9 ) with the handset on the cradle/hook :
1. Press PROGRAM * # followed by the system password ( default is 1234).
2. Now press 400 and then SP-PHONE. Enter the line number you wish to change. ( In your case 2)
3. Press AUTO ANS / MUTE to change between Connect and Not Connect.
4. Press AUTO DIAL / STORE to save your changes.
5. Press PROGRAM to exit program mode and you are done.

HOW TO SET THE TIME KX-T7636


If you are using this phone on a Panasonic KX-TDA 30/100/200/600 system.
From the Switcboard / Main telephone or Managers phone with the handset on the cradle/hook:
1. Press PROGRAM * * or PROGRAM * # followed by the system password ( usaully default is 1234).
2. Now press 000 and then ENTER.
3. Enter the last 2 digits of the year and then select the month with either SEL+ or AUTO ANS / MUTE.
4. Scroll right with the right arrow key and change the date.
5. Press the NEXT button on the screen and the time will appear.
6. Set the time. Press AUTO DIAL / STORE to save your changes.
7. Lift the handset and put it down to exit program mode.

Panasonic Phones are on mute and will not work

Did you check to make sure that the phone is not in the intercom mode? If this phone has a base station speaker phone, make sure it is not on mute. Some of these phones have a fax connection.
