Question about RCA 27F530T 27" TV

1 Answer

Squashed picture I am having a problem with my picture being squashed in the center. I just got this tv out of a travel trailer ,so therefore it has been jostled around. I know that i have used other tvs that have a knob on it to adjust for that problem ,but i opened it up and can't seem to locate something like that. I don't know if I'm just missing it or there is another problem. Would appreciate your help. Thanx

Re: squashed picture

With my past experience with RCA's it sounds like you have a loose solder joint possibly around the tuner or micro processor circuits. A lot of different chassis' from RCA were poorly soldered. Picture size is computer controlled by going into a service menu. There are no mechanical adjustments on these sets. The older RCA's and other brands too had mechanical vertical(height) adjustments. If your set is this type cahssis, then the board will have to be removed and re-soldered. I trust that this may give you an idea as to where your problem may be. Stargazer

Zenith SJ3271W vertical problem

Either a broken connection from the move or bad solder connections on the vertical output chip, some sets if bad connection will try to open full when rapped on the top or side of the set (not with a mallet or way too hard please)

If not a connection it may be a bad part in the circuit---bad or broken connections are more common.

Top of tv screen has a black line and top of tv pict is squashed

Nothing you can do unless you have knowledge of Solid State Electronics Servicing. Looks like a couple of Capacitors in the Vertical Deflection Circuits have become bad.

I would suggest to locate a part that looks like the one on this link and re solder all the pins, also check for any high power resistor nearby the IC295890 and put some fresh solder.
Let me know if you need further assistance.

Thomson TV Stuck on letterbox

Thank You Matt, This is not an enhanced set. So your friend couldn`t have changed the aspect ratio.

That unfortunately leaves you with a problem in the vertical circuits of the chassis .There is a capacitor going bad. I recommend you take it to your repair shop. First ask for an estimate before you decide you want to repair it. There are no expensive parts involved. Mostly service and labor charges.

Sylvania 27 in tv picture

It sounds like your vertical has shrunk, causing the picture to look squashed. Most likely a bad component in the vertical output stage.

Tv has lost two outer sides of vision despite changing picture mode

That's either a high voltage problem, or a deflection problem. WARNING, CRT Based Televisions have potently life threatening voltages inside them, and should be serviced by trained personnel only. With that out of the way. According to It's a capacitor failure Fault - Width and E/W correction fault Remedy - Replace R626 and C630 I don't have a manual so I can't tell you for sure what the resistor and capacitor do, or where they are located.
