Have Mits. WD-52725 DLP TV purchased 3 years ago at Best Buy. Screen went blank. Geek Squad from Best Buy came out and said the TV needed either a DM or FMT PC board. This repairman called Mits. and they no longer make the items to repair the TV. Any suggestions on where else I might find the parts before having to replace TV? Thanks. Bill

You have the V26 chassis with it's notorious problems caused from leaky capacitors. The fix for this is a multitude of capacitors replaced on the DM board, FMT board and the power supply. The right thing to do is to call Mits consumer relations @ 1-800-332-2119 with model, serial and date of purchase and they should be willing to make a concession for discount on a new Mits DLP. That's your best bet. This TV will continue to haunt you otherwise.
If this is a DLP, you may have problems on the FMT/DM boards in the sealed electrical chassis.
That's a big problem, because Mits doesn't make the DM/FMT boards available anymore. They are only available for rebuild from Mitsubishi and other qualified places.
There is a chance that there are some vented capacitors on the DM and FMT boards you might be able to replace, but it's for someone really comfortable with completely disassembling a set, soldering in 8 new caps and rebuilding the chassis.
Rebuilds will run you $400-$500 in rebuild costs and an additional $200-$400 in labor, depending on the joint.
I believe the format, or FMT board is going bad. this is not a do it yourselfer type repair, unless you have extensive electronics background - I have one myself with the same problem. I am waiting to get a new FMT board for mine.
yes they provide a free service manual with their kits. the symptom of the blue screen could either be the signal or the FMT as they can both cause those symptoms, My professional guess would be the signal board as the FMT will cause distortion lines across the screen with no picture.
This part will cost you about 650 to 800 bucks my friend. if you have any soldering skills, and can follow directions, I posted a DM board fix. it may just be four small capacitors. Now this set that was used in the fix is not exactly like all the other Mitsubishi TV sets that still have a DM board, but if you can locate the DM board, follow the rest of the repair. if you do not know how to solder, do not take a chance, as this part is way too expensive to be experimenting around with. Get the Capcitors(there is a link there too for the capacitors)and take the DM board to a service shop, as this should not cost you a lot to have a pro do this for you.
