Re: Thin black line on Xerox 4011 laser printer
Does the same thing occur with a different document.. Because it is not repetative, it leads me to believe the line is being drawn at the direction of the software. Try printing a test page, and see if the line appears. If not the issue is from within the word processsing software. It almost sounds like a legal template for a pleading..

most likely your imaging unit. Easy to find out put a new one in and if problem is solved that is it if problem persists there are 2 optional problems: 1)laser light obstruction - take imaging unit out look into the cavity, use a flashlight, try to see if there is any fine lint hanging around the opening where laser light comes from 2) your fusing rollers might have a scratch on them. For that you will have to call for sevice Hope that helps
what kind of line. Is it solid and think with well defined edges or is it a small thin and dotted? If it is solid with strait crisp edges you will need a new scanner. If it is just a small somewhat dotted you might just have a little something on the scanner glass. Clean it with regular rubbing alcohol and a cotton cloth like an old t-shirt. Don't use swabs or tissue because they can leave lint behind and just give you more lines.
thin lines? spaced about 1.5 inches apart could be toner left on the drum, take the cartridge out turn it over and retract the shutter, manually turn the drum using your thumbs on the edges of the drum, do you see thin lines on the drum? sometimes something sticky gets on the drum attracting toner and then it transfers to the paper during the copy process
the problem is with the smaller glass on the left.
Lift the top and look at the small glass on the left, is there a dot, whiteout, dirt etc... on there? that is what's making your lines. clean with alcohol or mild cleanser.
