I have just bought a 7720 but I also want to be able to use the Russian cyrillic alphabet without putting stickers on the keys - is there a standard keyboard replacement available with english alphabet and cyrillics combined?

Might give this a try-right click on your Computer icon-click on Properties-then click on Device Manager. The keyboard is listed there. If it has a yellow exclamation point, or a yellow question mark, then there is a problem. Click on the arrow in front of Keyboards, then right click on the drop down named keyboard. There you can click on update drivers. That should solve the problem.
Check the laptop is accepting keypresses by using an external keyboard. I'm assuming you were confident that this replacement board was working without issue when you bought it? What may have been working in all other respects, could have had a faulty controller on the motherboard. I'd also check that the keyboard ribbon was correctly locked into place as you re-assembled it and there are no kinks in the ribbon
try to access command prompt outside of windows using the operating system disc. (by booting to cd and go to repair your computer options then select command prompt) if the keyboard works fine on command prompt, there's no issue with the hardware. but if it still doesnt work, you will need to replace the keyboard.
remove the two silver colored screws underneath the battery.
Remove the upper part of the lightgrey top (the part with the speakers and the on/off button) which is clicked on.
Probably the backside is the best place to start...
Now you can lift the keyboard and remove the cable by first releasing the connector and pull out the flatcable.
