Hi i have got a pioneer xv-dv990 surround sound system. my problem is that the there is no bass coming from my sub. i have checked all the connections on the system with no luck. i know there is power running to the sub because it doubles up as an amp, and the rest of the speakers are working properly...thanks

Did you check your subwoofer? test your (speaker)subwoofer, maybe you need to replace it. ^_^

No sound from front center and rear speakers on my xv-dv55

Hi
1st check your cables are inserted into the subwofer (which is the powersource)
however it sounds as though you have switched the player to mono mode to reset it try this
2. On your remote press the system button with the green ring around it 3. Then press the dts button (number 7) keep pressing it until the auto option appears (watch the little black display screen)
hope fully that should fix it
I am assuming that you no longer have the manual other wise you would have checked in there? But if you do and this does not work try read the first few pages on setting up the sound for your system.

5.1 Surround Sound

Only Encoding will work unless you had a converter witch is in the hundreds of dollars yes a DVD movie will most likely help you achive the 5.1 but music like a mp3 no way unless you had the equipment to convert it to 5.1 and why would you want to do that? Anyways yes a DVD even Blueray will bring out the results.. Enjoy!!

DVD sound problem

Go into the setup menu into the audio options (use arrows on remote to go up and down menu and press left to enter the next menu to change options). By memory when I was running this just through a TV and not through a surround sound system, I had to turn off the addition speaker options in the audio menu. The one's like centre speaker etc have an small/large/off option. I had to turn these off so that all sound would come through the TV speaker only. That is about all I remember as I was trying to get this running for my aunt and I no longer have the DVD player.
