Question about GE GSS20IEP Side by Side Refrigerator
It started with freezing the water dispenser, and the freezer and fridge compartment was super cool..means even the orangn juice was frozen in the fridge. Adjusted manually the temperature, defrosted the water line with the light bulp heat (tip from this webpage, thanks). The next day no temperature at all,, ice cream was molten in the freezer section..fridge had shut off automatically. So switched on again , doesl cool..overshoots and freezes the heel out of the fridge department, freezes the water line...manually controlled down, thaw the water line...then it shuts off by itself...any suggestions what is wrong?

SOURCE: ice maker not working
So your not getting water from the dispenser either??? Yes the water filter can be the source of your problem. Let me know if the water is coming from the dispenser.

OK, I think I understand. Thing is we need to do a few things to see if your control board is the problem or if the fan or a freon leak is the answer. You need to tell me if this began suddenly or if over a period of time. I have been having trouble lately from Fixya if the customer (YOU) responds to my solutions. Let me know if you want my help and I will see if I get a email letting me know of your response, Thanks, Sea Breeze

If your model is doing that I would consider looking at the defrost components. Look inside back of freezer for frost building a thin layer on the rear wall. If yes then unplug and remove the rear panel in back of freezer and defrost with a hair dryer. You have and air circulation problem or a defrost problem. Sounds like it's trying to defrost but we need to have a look at the evaporator coils in the rear behind that cover. First let me know what you find and we will go from there, Thanks Sea breeze

Yes , the main control board is the problem . Also , make sure the coil roll behind the refrig , is clean . Sounds like the compressor relay on the board itself , is doing the clicking , trying to start a hot compressor , either caused by a compressor cooling fan not working , or the board . If the compressor cooling fan is not working , the board is still probably the problem . I have found , the board clicking , trying to start the fan . Replaced board , and no more problem .
