Here is the site to download the driver:

When you click "Downloads" you can manually download the driver or click the Auto Update button at the bottom.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

You burned out the audio chipset, (Unless when you downloaded the audio drivers, you did not Install them. You have to download AND install)

Suggest you purchase an economical sound card. Just ONE example,

DVD shows that it gets power, but it does not show up under the device manager nor under "My Computer" It has worked in the past and the most recent changes to my system were Windows Vista Updates.

Sounds like your DVD driver got lost or damaged. Use your system restore disks and reinstall the driver for the DVD. This ought to fix your problem.

Fixed this common problem several times with vista updates.
Simply reinstall the drivers for your sound card, via the system properties console, click hardware, right click the sound system properties, and choose to find and reinstall drivers automatically.

you may need to install the drivers for the devices you lost after you wiped out your drive, try running the cd that came with your motherboard if the sound card is built in on the mobo.

you could also download the drivers online through the mobo's manufacturer site.
if your computer is not online yet download it to a computer that can go online and place the drivers on a thumb drive or a CD then run it on your computer.
