I want to upgrade the ram on my acer extensa 5220 laptop
The user manual shows a small panel as the access to the ram.My laptop has only one large panel underneath but when i remove the 7 screws it doesn't seem to be free.I'm afraid to force it in case I do some damage. Thanks Alan

Hi there. I recommend you get another stick of SODIMM to replace what seems to be the faulty stick. If you are using XP or Vista X86 (32bit) then the system will only recognize 2.8 - 3GB of memory, only 64bit operating systems recognize the full 4GB.
Acer's support isn't the best. IMHO But go to their support site anyway and look up your laptops manual (there should be instructions on upgrading your RAM there). I did find that your machine will accept up to 4GB of RAM 2 X 2GB sticks. There should be a door or port (for easy user RAM upgrading) that is being overlooked, but again it is an Acer. Good luck.
