Question about Acer Aspire 5920-6727 Notebook
I have had the Aspire 5920 notebook for about 2 months without any problem until now. We have a mixture of British and USA films and we have moved to Australia which means we use 3 regions for DVD viewing. Un known to us we have only been aloud 5 region changes and now we are locked on region 2 and can not watch Australian or USA videos. Is it just the software that has locked the DVD? CAN we un lock or do we have to purchase another piece of software as we use our notebook to watch DVD's instead of purchasing a multi region DVD player.
Actually, the answer isn't nice at all.
It's not the software, it's the drive itself. You can only change a drive's region 5 times before it is completely locked. I'm not sure if it's possible to flash the drive's bios and start from scratch, but I'd imagine if it were possible, you wouldn't want to do it yourself because it involved opening the drive itself.
That sad thing about this is that you cannot change the code again, that disk drive is completely locked now.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
