Question about Lenovo 3000 C100 Notebook

2 Answers

Numberlock on by default.

On login the keyboard has the number lock on. The only way to type in the correct user/password is to switch off the Nmlk (Fn+NmLk) then type. Each time we boot up it's back again. How do we turn it off. The keypad is fine once we are logged on.

Jusy bought a Lenovo Y50. I cant seem to type numbers using the numpad keys (home, page up, etc works when Numlock is toggled). Any advice would be appreciated.

You have to have NUMBERLOCK ON to use the number pad .if you don't want to use the number lock key all the time you can go into the bios and change the setting for numberlock , then your pc will boot with number lock on all the time.

How to Reset Windows Password with Default Admin Password?

The Windows operating system allows you to assign a password to each user account. This provides privacy to different users on one computer. Each user is allowed to set up his own environment and settings to maintain personal files. The difficultly comes when a computer is not functioning correctly and needs to be put into safe mode, but a password is not available. Creating a disc on Windows permits you to <a href="http://www.passwordunlocker.com/knowledge/6-windows-password-recovery-solutions.html">reset Windows password</a>, get access to your locked computer and replace the forgotten or lost password. <br /> Let us discuss the method of <a href="http://www.passwordunlocker.com/knowledge/windows-password-recovery-tool.html">Windows password recovery</a>, if you have access to any of the account with administrator rights or you have not assigned a password to the account with username administrator. Administrator is the default account created in the Windows when it is installed. This has a blank password by default.<br /> start your system to reset the Windows login password. If classic login dialog box appears, write the user with administrator privilege if you know any of them, type its password and press enter to login. Otherwise, type administrator in place for the username and press Enter. If you are successful to login, open the Start menu and click Control Panel to open it. Open the user account and change the password of the desired account. Restart you system to login your account with the changed password. <br /> If your logon screen is Windows XP style, administrator user will not be shown on the logon screen. You have to boot in Safe Mode. Restart your system and press F8 key to display the boot options. Choose the Safe Mode option and press enter to boot. Windows skips loading many drivers. Administrator account is shown in the logon screen. Click it to login. After the Windows desktop is shown, open the Control Panel from the Start menu. Change the password of your account.<br /> Well, still can not successfully solve your Windows password recovery trouble? You'd better take use of a third party software. My password not accepted by computer

To start with, try typing your password slowly by hitting keys gently (if you have not done this already) and, at the same time, see if all the characters that you type are reflected (usually as dots or asterisks) in the password box on your screen. If all your key-strokes get reflected in the box but still your password is not recognized, make sure that the functional keys like Num-Lock and Caps-Lock are On or Off only when necessary. Also, make sure that no keys on your keyboard have got stuck up or jammed accidentally. If everthing is fine but your password is still not recognized, you may need to try out password recovery/ reset options. To guide you on the same, we request you to share with us some more information on which account are you trying to log into.

If one or more of your key-strokes are not getting reflected correctly in the password box, one or more keys on your keyboard may be malfunctioning. To cross-check if this is the case, you can try typing your password in Notepad or Word document on your system and confirm if all the characters that you type are coming up on your screen correctly. If the password you are referring to is your Windows password, you may not be able to login to your system and thus, may not be able to access Notepad or Word document. In such case, you can make the user ID box of the Windows login screen blank and type your password there (make sure that you remember your user ID the next time you need it). But do not hit Enter button or Login tab.

If you are sure that your keyboard keys are not functioning correctly, you may consider connecting a properly-functioning external keyboard (if possible) to your laptop and then see if the password gets entered correctly.

Hope this will resolve your issue.

Can't get past lock code

Laptop computers have the advantage being portable and self-contained, but among their drawbacks is a keyboard without a separate number keypad. While for most applications number keypads are unnecessary, they can be useful for data entry. Laptops sometimes provide a number keypad by giving certain keys double duty, allowing them to enter numbers rather than letters when a "Number Lock" setting is turned on. Number Lock, however, can get turned on accidentally, or enabled by an operating system by default, which can really mess up your typing. If typing "M" ends up displaying a "0" on your screen, Number Lock is probably the problem.

Try to locate the function key. On a T-series ThinkPad, it's in the lower left hand corner. It should be labeled "Fn," and the lettering may be blue, green or red instead of white. If your laptop lacks a "Fn" key, use the "Shift" key for Step 3 below instead. Locate the key labeled with "NmLk". On a T-series ThinkPad it shares a key with "ScrLk" which sits on the very top row between the "PrtSc" and "Pause" keys. On other IBM laptops, the "NmLk" key might share a key with "Delete." While holding down the "Fn" key or the "Shift" key, depending on your model, press the "NmLk" key. This should turn off Number Lock and restore your keyboard to its usual state. Number Lock on an IBM laptop is a "toggle" setting. You can turn Number Lock on by following the same steps.

also Examine your keyboard to ensure your "Number Lock" key is not activated. This activation is indicated by the key being lit up. If the key is activated, press it to deactivate the lock. The number lock key will deactivate an entire segment of your keyboard

Start, click Run, and type regedit to open the Windows registry editor. In the registry, open the below folders.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\
Control Panel\
Keyboard\
Within the keyboard folder, you should have a string value named "InitialKeyboardIndicators" with a value of 0, 1, or 2. Below is the explanation of each of these values.

0 = Num Lock is turned OFF after the logon.
1 = Disable Num Lock.
2 = Numlock is turned ON after the logon.
