Question about Lenovo 3000 C100 Notebook

2 Answers

Numberlock on by default.

On login the keyboard has the number lock on. The only way to type in the correct user/password is to switch off the Nmlk (Fn+NmLk) then type. Each time we boot up it's back again. How do we turn it off. The keypad is fine once we are logged on.

I can't connect to my internet. I don't know the correct password.

You will need to login to your wireless router to get, or set, your network password. A typical default router IP address is 192.168.0.1, but there can be any number of possibilities depending on router type, and network configuration, and who set it up... Some routers will put their default IP Address, and password on a sticker, located somewhere on the router. If this is the case, type the default IP Address into a browser on your computer, and hit enter, or return. A web page should appear asking for login information. User name, and password. Again this information varies... Typically the default user name is "Admin" or "admin" you can also try leaving this field blank, and just entering the password found on the router. In some cases the password is actually "admin" while leaving the user name blank.
If your successful at loging-in, you need to look at your wireless settings, under one of the sub-tabs you should find a password field indicating your network password. This is what should allow you to login to your network with your Roku device.

My password not accepted by computer

To start with, try typing your password slowly by hitting keys gently (if you have not done this already) and, at the same time, see if all the characters that you type are reflected (usually as dots or asterisks) in the password box on your screen. If all your key-strokes get reflected in the box but still your password is not recognized, make sure that the functional keys like Num-Lock and Caps-Lock are On or Off only when necessary. Also, make sure that no keys on your keyboard have got stuck up or jammed accidentally. If everthing is fine but your password is still not recognized, you may need to try out password recovery/ reset options. To guide you on the same, we request you to share with us some more information on which account are you trying to log into.

If one or more of your key-strokes are not getting reflected correctly in the password box, one or more keys on your keyboard may be malfunctioning. To cross-check if this is the case, you can try typing your password in Notepad or Word document on your system and confirm if all the characters that you type are coming up on your screen correctly. If the password you are referring to is your Windows password, you may not be able to login to your system and thus, may not be able to access Notepad or Word document. In such case, you can make the user ID box of the Windows login screen blank and type your password there (make sure that you remember your user ID the next time you need it). But do not hit Enter button or Login tab.

If you are sure that your keyboard keys are not functioning correctly, you may consider connecting a properly-functioning external keyboard (if possible) to your laptop and then see if the password gets entered correctly.

Hope this will resolve your issue.

When I turn my laptop on it won't. Let me log in

Hello

With any password issues, be sure you do not have your CAPS LOCK on and, because this is a laptop, be sure the NUM LOCK is not on either. NUM LOCK activates the number pad on the letters of the keyboard and can easily cause login issues.

With both off, type your password in the USER NAME field and make sure it appears correctly (this will show you what you are typing and how the laptop "sees" what you typed). If this is correct, delete this, enter your user name and then re-type the password and see if you can get logged in.

If this fails, you may need to use a "password reset boot disk" to boot your computer up and reset your password. Let us know if you need help with that step.

Can't get past lock code

Laptop computers have the advantage being portable and self-contained, but among their drawbacks is a keyboard without a separate number keypad. While for most applications number keypads are unnecessary, they can be useful for data entry. Laptops sometimes provide a number keypad by giving certain keys double duty, allowing them to enter numbers rather than letters when a "Number Lock" setting is turned on. Number Lock, however, can get turned on accidentally, or enabled by an operating system by default, which can really mess up your typing. If typing "M" ends up displaying a "0" on your screen, Number Lock is probably the problem.

Try to locate the function key. On a T-series ThinkPad, it's in the lower left hand corner. It should be labeled "Fn," and the lettering may be blue, green or red instead of white. If your laptop lacks a "Fn" key, use the "Shift" key for Step 3 below instead. Locate the key labeled with "NmLk". On a T-series ThinkPad it shares a key with "ScrLk" which sits on the very top row between the "PrtSc" and "Pause" keys. On other IBM laptops, the "NmLk" key might share a key with "Delete." While holding down the "Fn" key or the "Shift" key, depending on your model, press the "NmLk" key. This should turn off Number Lock and restore your keyboard to its usual state. Number Lock on an IBM laptop is a "toggle" setting. You can turn Number Lock on by following the same steps.

also Examine your keyboard to ensure your "Number Lock" key is not activated. This activation is indicated by the key being lit up. If the key is activated, press it to deactivate the lock. The number lock key will deactivate an entire segment of your keyboard

Start, click Run, and type regedit to open the Windows registry editor. In the registry, open the below folders.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\
Control Panel\
Keyboard\
Within the keyboard folder, you should have a string value named "InitialKeyboardIndicators" with a value of 0, 1, or 2. Below is the explanation of each of these values.

0 = Num Lock is turned OFF after the logon.
1 = Disable Num Lock.
2 = Numlock is turned ON after the logon.

if you want router login password you can try user name as admin and password as admin/password if you want to check the wireless password set up to your computer then

1) press and hole the windows key on keyboard which is next to ctrl key and then press "R"

2)In the box type cmd click on ok

3)you would get a black screen with a blinking cursor where you can type

4)type " ipconfig " hit enter

5) ther would be few numbers typed next to default gate way (eg: 192.168.1.1)

6) type the default gate way number in the adress box of internet explorer

7) it would ask you for user name and password  you can try user name as "admin "and password as "admin/password " it would direct you to router page

8)there you can check the wireless password in wireless settings option.
