Question about Lexmark C510 Laser Printer
Black toner cartridge for C510 Lexmark printer was replaced when it showed it was low. It printed fine until the next day when on the display it said '88 Black toner empty'. Why?
SOURCE: replacing the toner cartridge
No it isn't, toner does not distribute evenly from the cartridge, when it says it is out you often can shake it and get another few weeks out of it. However, when you get to the point your shaking after every job, stop. I have been told the printer can be damaged by running a cartridge bone dry.

shut off power to printer. Pull your photoconducter unit out and check the position of the black marker located on the edge of the tranferbelt. I know one time I was fortunate enough to fix this error by rotating the photoconducter belt so that the marker was in a different position. Becareful not to touch the photoconducter belt (green shiny part) if at all posible. Reinstall the unit and power up.
2. If the above trick doesn't fix it after turning the printer off for a few minutes and you still get the same error when printing... You will have to replace the photoconducter unit. I wasn't as fortunate the second time I attempted the above trick and ended up having to order a new one. But hey its worth a try!!
