ProForm Crosswalk 831.297231. The motor hums but does not move the tread.

Question edited for clarity and what the make and model actually is.

This is likely to be the Start / Run Capacitor on the motor. It gives the motor and electrical jolt and ten keeps it running.

My Precor 576i won't turn on. (This model uses no electricity).

  1. Power outlet problem: Make sure that the power outlet you are using is working properly and that the circuit breaker hasn't tripped.
  2. Power cord problem: Check that the power cord is securely plugged into the treadmill and the power outlet. Make sure that the cord is not damaged.
  3. Safety key problem: Make sure that the safety key is properly inserted into the console. The treadmill won't turn on without the safety key in place.
  4. Control panel problem: Check that the control panel is working properly. Make sure that the buttons are not stuck or that the display is not damaged.
  5. Motor control board issue: The motor control board is responsible for controlling the power to the motor. If it is malfunctioning, the treadmill will not turn on.
  6. Electrical problem: If there is an electrical problem with the treadmill, it will not turn on.

Had an electricity outage. when power was restored saw a spark around hood area.(belt was an upright position). Treadmill is getting power but belt not turning. Can you assist?

Depending on the cause of the power outage it may have damaged your treadmill. If you saw a spark and it's no longer working you should unplug the treadmill. Sparks coming from electrical equipment could mean there a fire hazard.

If you turned it on and it makes no noise and doesn't move chances are that either the motor is damaged or perhaps a fuse is blown somewhere in the device. Your best course of action is probably to contact the manufacturer about service (due to safety reasons) if you feel the treadmill is worth fixing.

Treadmill turns on fine. After a period of time whether a person is on the machine or not it will turn off and turn right back on. What is the problem,

Sounds like static electricity... Or a bad connection...
Check all connectors under the hood, make sure they are secure, no burnt or melted connectors.
Purchase an outlet tester ($10) and check to be sure the outlet is wired correctly with a ground..
The deck/belt may require lubrication to decrease the amount of static electricity..

hi, firstly change the fuse in the plug to a higher voltage, then if you are using an extention wire make sure all the wire is unrolled. i had the same problem with my m5. i was using an extention wire on a roll that was shorting out the trip on the treadmill and cutting the electric off. so just by putting a higher amp in the plug and i am now using a 2m extention alot safer and much better,

Treadmill maintence

Here is a typical guide for maintenance their may be a slight variation from different manufacturers all in all the same.
NOTE: To prevent electrical shock, be certain the treadmill is turned off and unplugged from the electrical outlet before performing any cleaning or routine maintenance. TREADBELT LUBRICATION For average use of your treadmill, factory recommends you lubricate under the treadbelt once per year. For heavy use, which is more than 10 hours per week, factory recommendation is lubricating every six months. . LUBRICATION PROCEDURE: 1. Turn off and unplug treadmill. 2. Cut off the end of the tube of lubricant. 3. Holding the tube in one hand, insert the tube underneath the treadbelt halfway between front and back and halfway between right and left. 4. Squeeze the full contents of the tube onto the deck in a circular pattern in the center 1/3 of the deck. 5. Plug in and turn on treadmill, then walk normally on treadmill at 0.5 mph for five minutes. CLEANING DAILY: Perspiration should be wiped from the control console and treadmill surfaces after your workout. CLEANING WEEKLY: You should wipe down your treadmill once a week with a water dampened, soft cloth. Be careful not to get excessive moisture between the edge of the digital display panel and the console, as this might create an electrical hazard or cause the electronics to fail. IMPORTANT: DO NOT CLEAN OR WIPE THE TOP OF THE DECK UNDER THE CENTER OF THE RUNNING BELT. MONTHLY: Clean dust and dirt that might accumulate under and behind your treadmill once a month. Small rubber particles from the soles of walking shoes will accumulate alongside the belt and also behind the unit
