A little help if you would be so kind? I have just aguiered a Pentax ME super and am having a little bit of trouble understanding the light meter. The worse thing is I also have the manual, which you'd think would throught some light on the subject, but I think a lot of that has been lost in traslation. Any pointer would be greatfully recieved. Hi Nathan,

Let's start shooting without film, first.

Example: shooting outside on a bright day, let says between 10:00 to 14:00 with some clouds.

Set camera ASA/ISO to 100
Set lens to the highest number, that's the largest F Stop number.
Set camera to P, which is program. Camera will select aperature and shutter for you.
All you need is the focus and look at those LED lights, to make sure it won't lit & flashing up at the top as well as on the bottom.

If you are viewing a image that is bight without clouds, then the Shutter should be 125 and the Aperature 16. If in the shade, it will be Aperaure 11.

Start with that first.

The light meter on my PENTAX K2DMD film camera does not stay on when the release button locks in "half way position". i have to push it with my finger to keep the meter working. how can i fix this?

Most cameras of this age work this way as standard, press the shutter button half way to activate the light meter. I dont have a K2 but in the K1000 and KX the meter doesn't stay on when you take pressure off the shutter button. Its probably not broken.

Yes, with limitations. The lenses will fit on any Pentax (now Ricoh) digital SLR. You may lose autofocus and/or auto exposure metering.

Hi my name is rolita lanzo, now my pentax optio baterry is not working anmore, i need to buy baterry, can you please help me to fine pentax shop here in davao?

Unfortunately, I am not super familiar with your area, but i did a little research, and there is a Pentax office in Cebu. they may be able to help you out.

Mactan Export Processing Zone 1,
6015 Lapu-lapu City, Cebu, PHILIPPINES
tel: (63)-32-3400-505

On another note, it would seem that your camera take standard 1.5V AA batteries. You can purchase these at any electronics/ department store.

When I insert a memory card into my pentax camera, I am getting a memory card error message. There are pictures on the memory card. The card works when inserted into another digital camera.

Hello

Ok, here is something that just might work.

In your case the problem is not with the card but rather with your camera's card reader. This is a rather hard problem to fix yourself but here is what you can do.

Open the card slot of your camera and peer inside with a sharp light or torch. You should see a little metal tab or switch inside the card slot. This is the write protection switch. Contrary to popular belief , the switch on the card does not impact the operation of the card itself but rather tells the camera that the card should be locked by depressing the little pin inside.

If you put a protected card into a camera with no protection switch , the card would operate normally.

However , with time and repeated use , the switch will start to bend slightly until it will no longer depress when a unlocked card is inserted.

With a toothpick or needle , slightly and very gently push this tab up a little bit. (some camera's will require you to pull the tab down), This will allow the switch to operate once again and should solve your problem.

Kind Regards
Andrea

How to mount Minolta AF 28-80/3.5-5.6 on pentax

Unfortunately, it is not possible to mount Minolta lenses on a Pentax K mount camera and retain either auto-focus, metering, or the ability to focus at infinity.
The reason for the loss of the ability to focus at infinity is because the distance from the mount to where the image forms on a Minolat lens is 43mm, whereas on a Pentax it is 46mm, so the Minolta lens glass would need to be 2mm into the body of the Pentax camera in order for the image to form on the sensor (i.e. have a clear image that is in focus).
The only solution to this is to purchase an adapter with an optical element such as this: http://photo-adapter-llc.amazonwebstore.com/Zykkor-Minolta-MD-Lens-to-Pentax/M/B004PB8142.htm?traffic_src=froogle&utm_medium=CSE&utm_source=froogle This will allow you to focus at infinity, however you will have to use stop down metering and manual focus, as the electrical contacts will not connect. Also, you can expect a slight loss of image quality when using an adapter.
I personally have a few Minolta lenses that I have wanted to use on my Pentax, so I understand your pain. It is a shame they don't work better.
Thank you for using FixYa!

Pentax K100 Super D clicks, but no pictures.

Hate to say it, but it's dead. My Pentax K100 D Super did the same thing. Took it to the local camera shop. They scratched their heads and sent the body to Pentax. The reply that came back was that the circuit board was completely fried and it would cost more to fix than it would to buy a new body.

I was out of luck because the warranty was out (had it a year and a half), but with yours being less than a year, you should be able to get a new body without having to shell out $$$.

Focusing screen question

Pentax make three different screens for the D and DS. Go check their homesite, or do a search here. None of the Pentax oriinal screens has microprismes or split image. They are engraved in different ways.
