Do you have Win 2003 previously installed? Do you wish to have "Multiboot Operating system"??

Do you find difficulty in formatting the Hard Disk Drive??

Please explain the error message in bit more detail with your Laptop configuration and other OS information to support you further.

Let me know if you have installation disk, and it is bootup with it.

If it not bootup automatically then change the Setting for Boot Priority in BIOS. To go in BIOS press F2, F11, DEL or ESC key mostly works.

Let me know if this work for you, otherwise I will provide you further assistance, just let me know the further details.

Thanks
Scott

Hi Buddy

1.
Try to scan your drive with SCANDISC UTILITY in dos prompt.. or do DIFFREGMENT in Device Manager.

2.
When you reboot your computer, start tapping the F8 key as soon as the computer starts up and that will bring you to the start-up menu.

In the startup menu you will have a choice to start your computer with "Command Prompt Only" after you select that you will most likely be in your C: drive. From there just type in SCANDISK and then you should be able to run a surface scan.

3.
Install new windows OS in diffrent drive path.

Good Luck

My laptop is not instaling winodws 7 and working good on xp

It's very common when installing Windows 7 for you to get to the Windows logo or blue windows screen and it be blank and you sometimes have to wait for anything up to 15-20mins before the installation options appear, unsure why this is but make sure you allow 30mins on that blank screen before righting it off... You also need to decide if your setting up a dual boot system if you already have XP on their, if you want to keep both then select dual boot when installing. Sorry it's not an answer but waiting 15-mins or so may give u the answer, had that happen lots of times with win7

Can't install Windows XP to Aspire One AO725 netbook

Yes you can't install Win xp in this PC, Even if you want to install then you have to down grade Your laptop BIOS and can only be install WIN XP SP3. But i will not suggest you to do that because your laptop is design for WIN 7 not for WIN XP.

I have Toshiba Laptop L300. It does not install xp . however it easily install Window 7

Hi,

Probably because you have a SATA Hard Drive. If you want to install WIN XP, you may need to change your hard drive settings. For this go to the BIOS and change to Compatible Mode or IDE or Non SATA. The Reasons that WIN 7 install with no problems is because WIN 7 has already builtIn SATA drivers on it

XP repair
When you boot with the Win XP install CD-ROM, it loads a minimal operating system, similar to DOS, but compatible with Win XP. At the first screen you select install Win XP (not Recovery Console) and at the next screen it will find that you already have Win XP and offer to attempt a repair. This repair should not touch your Applications or data; it just reinstalls the Windows files. This is great because when it works you don't need to reinstall all your software.

You can try this first before the XP repair :
Chkdsk
Take the Windows XP disk. Boot from it, then DO NOT select F2 (automated system recovery) but continue through the procedure until you get to the point where you can choose between installing Windows XP and entering the Recovery Console. Once you get into the Recovery Console, do chkdsk and fix potential errors on your disks! Chkdsk C: /R

Missing or corrupt win/sys32/config/ sys file

The best thing to do is borrow a Win XP cd from a friend and do the following:
When you boot with the Win XP install CD-ROM, it loads a minimal operating system, similar to DOS, but compatible with Win XP. At the first screen you select install Win XP (not Recovery Console) and at the next screen it will find that you already have Win XP and offer to attempt a repair. If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.

I cannot install win xp on my hp pavalion

Hello

the easiest way out is to change the bios settings so that the disk is running in native mode, search for that settings in bios then the windows XP installation should find your disks.

other way is to have a Disk drive and download the sata driver from the manufactory site.

third way is to make a new xp installation cd with the new driver.

but try the first one first. little more info about your computer should be helping me to help your more?

good luck

Not able to install linux

My guess is that when installing XP the option to format using NTFS was accepted. You should get a (Windows 98) DOS start floppy/CD and re-partion and format the drive before booting Linux install from CD/DVD
